Best Khaki's?

Even the so-called "athletic fit" ML Flying Cross poly-wool khaki shirts have too much material at the waist for guys who have a 32-33" waist.
That's why I went back to Abbotts.
Shirt-stays are relatively useless if you are stuffing a handful of material into the folds.

I second the tailoring comment, but only because the Navy assumes if you're a female and you have big boobs/large shoulders you are automatically a fatass. Seriously, if I get shirts that fit my upper body, they are automatically tents at the bottom that I could probably wear when I'm nine months pregnant. Shirt stays don't help in that situation, so I have to get all my uniform shirts taken in the sides.

This is EXACTLY my point. If you have any body taper, the shirts suck without tailoring.

I DO wear shirt stays Nittany... I went to OCS. Tell that to the ROTC and canoe-u types. (here come the flames...) :D

Yes, I think mine could probably use an inch or two of tuck. You can still clean it up, pull it down, and strap the hell out of your shirt stays though if you are worried about the pop-out.....maybe not the best solution, but I digress

Since we're on the subject of the khaki uni, I have been looking for a really nice set of brown leather oxfords (real ones, not the bates lites), does anyone know who makes a good pair? I can't seem to find anybody that makes a non stylish version and just a plain oxford.

I'm looking for a pair as well, and the uniform support center people looked at me like I had three heads (if that's possible over the phone). It may be you'd have to go to a cobbler and get a pair made, if you're talking about a set with no kidding leather soles, et cetera.

Can you still say cobbler..in the 21st century...is that allowed? Besides the dessert...of course.

I've been to everywhere I can think of but can't find the 'right' look. Macy's has a few close ones but they look slightly fag-ish. Short of a custom made deal, I guess I'm stuck with the cheap bates.

A friend of mine has a good non-NEX pair. Still oxford, but much nicer, can't remember where he said that he picked them up from though....I'll have to ask him

M/Athletic and M/L are two different sizes. I find M/Athletic fine for the torso (sleeves had to come in an inch, though), and I fit the mold of your guy who has a 30-32" waste.

The shitty thing is that I have a M/L (along with a M/L in summer whites) from early in OCS because I was quite a few pounds heavier then. Didn't know that they could fix the huge amount of material at the waste. Would any old tailor do it, or do you have to go to the uniform shop?

Just for some info: Abbots is no longer allowed to make their uniform presentation at OCS. Turns out when OCS moved to RI the NEX put a block on them because they didn't want the competition. Now, as an officer spending your own money you don't get a choice as to the quality of Khaki's, SDB's, or Chokers you get during OCS. Kind of piss poor in my opinion. Not sure if it was like this with every class but not one person paid the money for uniforms from the NEX even though they were cheaper by a few hundred...

They did tell me if students "ask" for Abbots uniforms while in OCS they cannot deny them...

Well, too late for that now. I was actually kinda PO'ed at some of the extra shit that they "make" you purchase in the first week that is absolutely useless.

I don't really have an issue with anything I bought there except for the fact that I lost a lot of weight and am going to pay upwards of $75 in re-tailoring costs.

I've been back in P-cola for a couple of months after a 12 year hiatus. First place I went to (after McGuires and Sammys) was Abbott.
Got a sword, embroidered NFO wings for SDBs, and made sure they can make my Aviation Working Green Jacket in time for the Fall.
They will tailor your Abbott clothing for life of the fabric, no additional charge after the initial buy.
I'll ask them about the oxfords, that's a good one.

As a non-aviator, I'm not going to be in P-Cola...ever. I was moreso asking that if it's possible to get rid of all that excess material, where could I get my non-Abbots stuff tailored?

I had my Abbott's khaki's tailored at the NEX. I wanted to use the free tailoring but it was convenient and I needed it done yesterday. Needless to say I no longer had my OCS figure and I was worried I had watch coming up with tight pants. Spekkio, any NEX that has a uniform shop will tailor. To be honest you could probably go to any tailor, but I try to stick with a military tailor because they know how things should look.
