April 09 Boards

NTXRockr

Alive and kicking...sort of.
OK, now that I've cooled off and succumbed to the fact that I didn't get my packet into the past two boards, I decided to go ahead and start the thread for next month...

BDCP - SNA only
23 years old (24 on the 10th)
66/9/9/9
No PRT yet...used to perfect score my PFT's in AFROTC (80pu, 90su, 8:50 1.5mi) but still overweight at the moment and at 50pu, 50su, 10:30 1.5mi
3.25 GPA B.A. Political Science, University of North Texas
LOR's: AF O-6 pilot, Navy O-5 pilot, director of ops (boss - since my boss/dad can't write one), former university department chair, AF O-4 pilot/instructor (local Justice of the Peace/Judge/family friend)
100+ hours of unlogged flight time, including turbine experience...I was dumb as a teenager and didn't bother to get the ratings when I had the time to spare, lol
Roughly 50 hours/year community service, through our church or other organizations
4 years church musician/youth group leader
Former AFROTC cadet/flight/squadron commander

Good luck to everyone, hopefully this one will be the one for me too.

Well, Renegade, you seem....competitive. :D

You are going Supply?

Good luck renegade, you have quite a credentials list.

No...I didn't cheat on the test, although my OR and processor both asked how I cheated when they saw the score after I finished. I have the blessed advantage of growing up in aviation and flying/working on planes before I could drive. That, and many of my family are current or past military officers and fighter pilots.

As far as appearances on paper I should do good at the board, but my problem has been getting to it. I've been trying since December and have had a couple of medical issues that have taken some time to resolve - one I'm still waiting the hear back from CNRC on whether I need a waiver or not. That, and my OR and his wife both have had health issues and has kept him out of the office, so I've been busy fighting Murphy and his crazy law that keeps afflicting me. But I will get into the next board, and I can't wait to start getting paid and then on my way to Newport in due time.

Hello all,
Total newb to posting on these boards but I've been coming to Air warriors for info for months. Thanks for that.

Anyway, question, of course: To everyone's best understanding, if my OCS app makes it to CNRC before the end of March it should be in the April board, correct? I will have my CO's meeting next week, then in the mail.

Just curious as I saw a couple of people mention 'getting into this month's board, but the not the previous month's' etc.

NTXRockr

Alive and kicking...sort of.
In theory, yes, but there's always the chance of a ton of rollovers from the previous month to push you farther down the line. I've even heard of several who applied one month only to get in 2 or 3 months later, but I think there were probably some issues with their app or their recruiters held it up for some reason, etc.

Are you applying direct OCS or BDCP? Also, are you prior service (reference to CO's meeting)? Prior servicers seems to get seen quicker than civies going direct, so that may be in your favor. BDCP competes only with BDCP'ers, and the few months I've been paying attention about 12-15 apply and all are seen...no huge turnout like direct.

If I'm not mistaken, direct also has the first "50 applicant rule" still in effect, so only the first 50 get seen, with 51 thru infinity rolling to next month. So you can see how it's easy to roll months if 128 apply in March - if you're 128, it could be May until you're at the board.

And, as always, any discrepancies with my gouge will be corrected by those who are in-the-know shortly.....

NTX, I suppose I was referring to you specifically, although I understand now you had a couple of issues with your app. Though if you were rolled over months I wouldn't look forward to that either.

I am current AD and I'm supposed to have orders in hand now, but the detailers are sitting on me waiting for an answer from the OCS board. I need my package in yesterday. If I don't select this time, even right now I have the potential to PCS to some horrible assignment (relatively speaking). I'm long past being able to negotiate for orders. As it stands, they send me whereever they want/need. The longer this takes the worse it gets, but at this point I'll endure anything to become a naval officer. I'm praying for selection.

What board are you up for and what communities? How about posting some status with all your questions your posting on here... lets see what your working with? In other words... SHOW ME THE MONEY!
