Well...for the BDCP guys, part of the checklist before they ship our asses off to OCS is confirming that we did indeed graduate from college. So I'd say it sounds like a good sign.

Well...for the BDCP guys, part of the checklist before they ship our asses off to OCS is confirming that we did indeed graduate from college. So I'd say it sounds like a good sign.
Cool. I have not heard much since my packet went away several months ago, and this was the first information about it that I have received from my Recruiter that sounded positive. To bad it will take a week for the school to process the transcript since they dont do rush transcripts.....

My name is Nehemiah Wilson. I was working with an Officer Recruiting station in State College, PA. I initiated this process beginning in January of 2007. After I graduated from college in Pennsylvania, I moved back to California. However I took my ASTB (and got a 57, 6, 6 & 5 on form 5) in Pennsylvania. I was applying for Naval Aviation. But in the mean time I needed to find work, so I moved back to California. While I was finding work in California, I completed my Security Questionnaire and General Application for the Navy. I turned these documents in before I was able to find a job. Soon after I turned these documents in, I completed processing at MEPS in California. Once everything was in I did my physical and did well on that as well. I was definitely in the excellent category. So then I waited. I was told that I was accepted and professionally recommended. I was waiting to swear in and then I received a phone call about a week ago. The call was from my recruiter in Pennsylvania. He told me that I was dropped. I have no idea why because no reason was given. I was wondering if there is anything I should do at this point. I have written a letter asking for reconsideration and if not that, then at least a reason for why I was dropped. I still have not gotten either. What should I do at this point? It is very discouraging to see a year of effort thrown away so easily. I want to pursue this and possibly reapply. But I was wondering what people do at this point which could be at all advantageous. Thanks.

Have you contacted a recruiter in California? He might be able to help, and would be easier to keep in touch with than a recruiter in PA...
Question:
I will graduate in May' 09, and my recruiter is sending my packet off this week for the BDCP. If I am PROREC yes before May '08, will I receive pay? or will I have to go through the entire process before receiving E3 pay?
And, becasue I will have my packet turned in before April.....if I am not PROREC yes until after May '08, will I no longer be eligible for BDCP?

You don't get paid until you swear in and sign your contract. Pro-rec is just a step on the way to that. I don't know about the eligibility question, that sounds like a good one to ask the recruiter.

If you are selected for BDCP then you will start getting paid when you are final selected and enlisted. The time you have left isn't a concern, you still have a year to graduate. I have seen some selected with less then a year to graduate.

Senior Chief, What are the educational requirements (specifically math and science)for OCS? The only thing I know so far is that you need a 3.0.

None. As long as you have a 4 year accredited degree (or are getting one for BDCP), then OCS has no math/science requirements. That is only for the Academy and ROTC.

Oh and 3.0 isn't a requirement, just probably a lot more competetive.
As is the math and science classes. In other words, you can get any degree made up of any class subjects as long as you have a competitive GPA and can do well on the astb, which is fairly heavy in math and science/physics. A technical degree is more competitive, but not required. Higher GPAs are required for BDCP over straight OCS programs.

I've done searches online on google maps, the official navy site and my GPS, but all I keep getting are regular enlistment offices. there should be a few in california right?

Navy.com should give you a number for an officer as well as enlisted recruiter if you click the "Find a recruiter" link. At least it does for my zip code.Hi,

If that doesn't work, try finding the nearest NRD's website and they should have contact info.
You can click the drop down menu on the left side under the world map to find an NRD near you.
