But how much would being the only company to have a business jet that'll make "the boom" be worth? In a world where Gulfstream can sell a G5 decked out for more than it costs for a new 737, I would think there would be a market for it.

Just thinking back to some basic aero as well...Alot changes about airflow at supersonic speeds...all of a sudden shapes that were diffusers, such as intakes for speeds less than Mach 1 become nozzles...etc...I know several supersonic aircraft employ variable geometry intake/exhaust(turkey feathers) for this reason. Perhaps they simply couldn't justify going through all the engineering exercizes that would have been required to make the aircraft perform well at both supersonic and sonic speeds...

Dogs and cats sleeping together...

Ask yourself this question: Could the Concorde fly super-sonic over the USA? Can military aircraft fly super-sonic over most of the USA? The answer to those questions are why super-sonic business jets don't exist.

I heard that Bill gates has a bid out for the first super sonic jet and that there was alot of interest in it among other corporations.

Anyone happen to have any flight experience in a Super Decathalon...saw one today for sale and it looked like a hell of a neat plane but I have no experience in type...Thanks.

Great plane for fun, sucks for traveling. If you have no time in type, never mind buying one, insurance will make your starfish sore.

I disagree on the insurance - if you have a tailwheel endorsement, it will not be outrageous. Not much more than a tricycle gear a/c. There is nothing exotic about the Super Decath...

Now the plane for me is a Maule - make mine a 235C

I should rephrase...I have no time in that airframe...I have roughly 50 hours tailwheel. Insurance would really be that big a deal breaker you think? Keep in mind, this isn't happening anytime really soon...just asking really for impressions of the airplane.

Thanks for the feedback.
