I came through VT-3 back in '96. As a Marine SNA, it was awesome. My roommates were in VT-Screw and "HT"-6, and the tone was much different for them.
My on-wing was a KC-135 pilot from Fort Lauderdale. Imagine being taught how to fly by Spicolli from 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'.
Bottom-line: I think you'll make some great friends in the other services that your buddies who go to Vance won't.
