Remind us again, when did you go through this pipeline you speak of?I did. My advice stands. Perhaps the OPs son can find other networking opportunities including getting an AWs account to learn more about the other pipelines.

This is a great decision making starting point, will pass along! Congrats to you and your new career. Here are some variables: The platforms itself, the mission set, locations, and the people/community culture.
Great points, will pass on, thank you.Everybody hit the high points already, but I’ll anchor on a few that were important to me during my selection: mission set, boat versus not boat based squadron, and the kind of flying I’d be doing in my operational squadron.
It's not the ultimate decision that it sometimes feels like to SNAs.

No, I'm asking when you went through the aviation pipeline. Are you then inferring that OP’s son should NOT join AWs?
Just let it go. He offers a unique perspective on many topics based on his background We get you don't agree. No, I'm asking when you went through the aviation pipeline.
Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public. How come no one is cheering for plopters?
How come some of your fellow pilots are disappointed with how things went for them? What are they disappointed with?Honestly it depends on what he wants out of the Navy. Naval aviation is a jet’s world and the rest of us just live here. If a long and illustrious navy career is a desire then there’s your answer. I love helicopters and wouldn’t change a single thing about what I’ve done but many of my fellow pilots are pretty disappointed with how things went for them even if they love flying helicopters.
We had a guy in the U-2 that flew/flies cool stuff on the side: Flew aerobatic competition in Extras, flies a bunch of different warbirds including the P-51 and T-28... just a wide variety of experience in addition to the KC-10 and T-38.How come no one is cheering for plopters?
There are jaded people in every community. Don’t put too much stock in it.How come some of your fellow pilots are disappointed with how things went for them? What are they disappointed with?
