Have no clue what happened to the Sandman... I know he picked up O-6... as did the 1st Batt-O from Plebe Year.
 
The academy stopped telling people their companies because they didn't want the plebes to go on facebook or myspace and learn about their companies. Facebook LT's hard at work

I found out mine last year. Though, this may be true, I saw people get fried this year for messing (read: threatening) with '11 and the Napsters/Foundation Students of '12 via facebook.
 
Back when I was a plebe, I had to pound iron just to make my drill rifle.

Yeah. Especially considering my classmates were headed to YOUNGSTER year. I emailed one of them a nasty note basically saying "hey moron, cut the crap out, before you get fried. No need to haze them via facebook, just makes us all look like a-holes and your company look retarded." Other stuff too. Guy ended up getting fried, and I say he deserved it.
 
For the life of me I can't understand what would make someone have a desire to do that, let alone think it's OK.

I don't know the guy personally, just sent him the nasty email. But there are enough of those "I go to USNA/USMA/USAFA/EL CID/VMI/NORWHICH/[insert random Corps of Cadets here] and therefore I'm better than you" at every one of those schools. You know, people that think USNA is like the movie Annapolis. I imagine he learned his lesson, and if he is a flamebag as a Youngster, I'm sure some of his classmates will put him in his place.

Aye. Fortunately I had no true flaming youngsters. For the most part, mine were good...

Regardless, I looked at the I-Day pictures, and saw some of my 2/C turned 1/C Plebe Summer Detail yelling at a new plebe. Real weird to be on the opposite side of the fence. :eek: Can't believe it's been a year!
 
I-Day, haha that sucked. I remember getting my letter with C-6 on it well before I reported but it makes sense now that they don't show it. The Academy and Facebook have a long history (Facebook march to Mahan anyone?)

I promptly deleted mine. This wasn't too long after the whole firstie music downloading fiasco.

Bah what happened? Do tell this story! And the Facebook March to Mahan? What was up with that? As of right now we're allowed to have facebooks, but post one stupid thing or picture and you're fried.
 
Are you speaking, perchance, about the 2003 firstie music debacle where they turned off the internet at USNA? If so, I know a guy who was one of the prime suspects in that incedent. Only, he had done his homework while in 'Law for the Junior Officer' class with me, and when they tried to search/seize his computers, he replied with, "Sure thing, Sir, but can I see your CO's authorization?" The IT LT is reported to have muttered something like, "Oh, shit," before he scuttled off to get said paperwork. The resulting window of opportunity was enough for my acquaintance to format/degauss every single piece of incriminating data. They put him on restriction anyway, just because they could. I think the guy wound up working on the DDX project after getting let go after not completing flight school.

Good thing they never found the guy running the porn server, though.
 
The facebook march to Mahan was great. Somehow those in charge decided about a quarter of the brigade was somehow in violation of acceptable use from something on facebook and we were ordered to go to a lecture from the Dant. It was pointless, but they made us march from T-court to Mahan in formation like football games. There were even people throwing candy till they got chased away. I got to lead my company since I was the ranking mid...still no clue what the hell we did wrong though...
