2nd Amendment Rights & Senator Obama

Just in case any of you had any doubts regarding Senator Obama's stance on 2nd Amendment rights. Politico.com has a story referencing a questionnaire that the Senator took as he sought a state Senate seat in 1996.

“Do you support state legislation to … ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns?” asked one of the three dozen questions.

“Yes,” was Obama’s entire answer.

That's very absurd. As many people use handguns in the US, along with the world, they use them for competitions, self-defense, sporting, hunting. This could be a problem..

What's scary is if he gets elected then he's more than likely going to fill openings on the various federal courts with judges who share his view.

Very true, the Federal Court systems and delegations may oppose the laws regarding possession or purchasing. It's not a big issue at this moment, but has it's differences.

You must not understand the term possession (such as you owning a gun).

missed that part :(

Doesn't really matter though, president can't stop a state from that, but the supreme court can

Enjoy your time shooting now. You should have plenty of time to fool around with it and hit the shooting range. If this is a issue in the future, it will take a good amount of time before it is Amended or delegated by law.

Yes, but the President has a say in the appointment of Supreme Court Justices and lesser judges. Of course, note how reticent both Democratic candidates have been regarding the recent deliberations in the Supreme Court. they know which side their bread's buttered on. Methinks Senator Obama would have a MUCH harder time with such unconstitutional BS on the national stage . . .

Good luck getting rid of that amendment....I don't know how many states have to ratify it but you know the red states won't.

That's the thing, they don't have to get rid of the amendment. All they have to do get judges on the bench who don't hold to the strict interpretation of the amendment.
