I read somewhere that there's a 40/40/20 distribution for aviator applicants (pilots?) Academy/ROTC/direct-commission. But where does AD fit in?

nope, the goal is 1/3 USNA, 1/3 NROTC and 1/3 OCS. The AD would fall into the OCS category.
