I received the digital remastered DVD of BHD - and took a couple of stills of my favorite weapon - the 1911. Enjoy! (notice the proper "both eyes open" shooting )

Nice stills. Although the guy in the second shot does look like he's got some GI problems going on... :D

I like it... I like it :D I'll get the digital out tonight and see if I can get a decent pic of mine. Also, picked up a 1981 Browning Hi-Power I just got back from Novak... (last 6 weeks on the road for the Nav) have got me in withdrawls...:icon_tong

that's funny, I was actually looking at the exact same scenes with the 1911 the other day. I am more and more interested in collecting firearms and a 1911 will more than likely be my first pistol.

Same here, flysupertomcat. Even though I love Massachusetts, I want to move somewhere else in New England at least partially because I don't want to jump through a million hoops to own one.

I think IU can pick out an ambi safety but that's about it. The technical folks on the BHD movie went through a lot of trouble to get weapons and equipment spot on perfect - so odds are that's what these guys really carried.

Here are two of John Browning's finest... the 1911 is an Ed Brown Kobra (full size 1911), the other is a Novak modified 1981 Belgian Browning. It shoots a LOT better than I do :D

Apparently it's not that hard here in VA. I wonder if they're going to try and change that now...

I highly doubt it. VA is a very gun friendly state. It would be like Texas or Florida getting rid of guns. It just isn't going to happen.

In Eric Haney's book, Inside Delta Force, he talks about how at least when he was in during the 70s and 80s, that the 1911 was pretty much the trademark pistol of the unit.

I went shooting yesterday with a new Army BG, he is a former Kiowa/Loach/Blackhawk driver, I let him shoot my 1911 and he half seriously offered to trade me his General's pistol for it. I told him he'd STILL have to throw money into the deal.:D He said he always carried a 1911 in his vest with 5 mag's when he flew in the First Gulf War. I didn't ask, but I "think" he's a former 160th driver. Not a bad shot either...:icon_tong
