15 SEP2025 SNA/SNFO BOARD

or we’ll just have to wait the full 8 weeks 😭
Eh the full 8 isn’t so bad now that I’ve made it that far. Plus this group is far more lively to help it feel less painful! I was joking with my buddy this morning that at this point I’m rejuvenated for another 8 - bring it on 😅 (just kidding NRC/IWC OCM - PLEASE GIVE US A USN BIRTHDAY GIFT OF THE RESULTS THIS NAVY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND)

Calculated the median selection rate based on the boards wait times previous stats excel page:

Wait time > 21 days = 55 percent selection rate
Wait time <= 21 days = 81 percent selection rate

I hope we got at least 75 percent 😭
I don’t think wait time and selection rates are related lol, there are also data points that disproves such correlation (May 22, 2023; December 4, 2023); we’d also have to account for the fact that the 28-37 wait days are either during Covid or from 2021-2022–the worst years in recent I think for selection due to way too many applicants (it sounds stupid but after Top Gun Maverick came out it flooded recruitment, at least that’s what my recruiter said back when I tried to take the ASTB and start the process back when I was still in college, he told me I can try for a good score but won’t even be able to start my application). If you look at the selected averages across the boards they’re actually quite consistent at around 150 each, the lower selection rate is only due to that specific board having 300 applicants instead of 200. Anyway let’s not give ourselves more to worry about there’s already so much stress 😭, quotas and the needs of the Navy’s outta our control anyway, we’ve already put in our best on things we can control like ASTB and GPA 🙏

The selection boards seem very high recently. At least these are not Air Force selection boards. What made you guys wanna do navy instead of Air Force? Is it because of the selection rate?

Cus everyone knows the real Pilots are in the Navy and not some ugly dress blue cats that are just glorified shinny shelf trophies for the DOW.

Hooyah!?

Well didn’t pay attention in college so gpa wasn’t good enough and got injured and removed from army OCS

Buddy of mine commissioned right out of college and flies the E-6 now. I figured if I’m going to fly, I’m following his route because I know the most about what he does, I’d be a little closer to family, and that frame sets up a lot of potential careers.

I didn’t know this until speaking to an OR, but the Navy is the only branch that confirms your job before OCS, so that doesn’t hurt either.
