1001 questions (and answers) concerning BDCP

Does pay/backpay kick in when you get FINSEL, swear in, or when you’re just selected. I’m in a similar situation so I’m more curious when I’ll “technically” start making money (like backpay) before the actual first paycheck. This board has been long with releasing results. I’d ask my recruiter this question but they haven’t been too reliable with information before.
You’ll be back paid to the day you were swore in.

Recruiter told me AP credits don’t count for BDCP eligibility requirements towards the 90 Quarter Credits requirement even though they are posted on my college transcripts which is above 90 quarter credits with the ap credits. Is this accurate?

The PA states college credits, not AP IB.

For those who have already gone through this, how long did it take you to get the FINSEL, sign your papers, and take the oath after the board results came out?

Got the PROREC-Y in May 2025, then got the FINSEL letter and sworn-in the same day in June 2025, and didn’t start getting paid till August. Your wait could differ from what mine was, it just depends.

I'm assuming there will be no lapse in pay for us BDCP selects when we go to OCS? It should just deposit like normal?

Can anyone speak to this

does anyone know how it works if you were found NPQ/DQd for your designator (in my case aviation). Would you be forced into a SWO slot? Or can you request separation (OCS fully complete and graduated, just in holding). It’s a bit confusing in the contract, and from what I’ve gathered it’s possible to request separation if DQd from your designator rather then being forced into another, however they really really try to tell you to go SWO…

Really good time for you to Google and read the BDCP program authorization. Emphasis is on re designation.

I have, and am trying to redesignate to MCWO, however if I can’t get that then…

From what I’ve seen it is possible to req separation, but they really want to try to “force” your hand to go SWO, atleast that’s what I’m seeing here at OTCN

The bottom line is you owe the USN time for paying you in BDCP, sometimes people will get what they want and sometimes they won't. I had a person in BDCP drop in OCS and they were sent to boot camp. You still have the opportunity to serve as an officer, while it may not be the designator you want when you finish your obligation what you will have is a variety of experience that will benefit you throughout your life.

What you get depends on what you are qualified for and what is available, I would encourage you to make sure you meet the requirements for what you are trying to redesignate to.

At this point I don’t think you have much of a hand or solid options if you say no.
