like I said, the real question would be asking yourself if it makes your current quality of life better. I would avoid making important decisions like that based solely on your navy career, but it's ultimately your decision.
Getting it done on the Navy's dime is also an option, but that's something you'd have to work out in your pipeline; I have a buddy who wants to get his eye surgery corrected but we're in the middle of our FRS syllabus so it might not be possible for a while
Side note: it's not the end of the world to get re-designated. There are plenty of officer jobs that have their own benefits, and there's always something for everyone
