1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

So I’m 52 6,7,7 3.0 gpa in logistics and now have to wait 6 months for LASIKs. Looking at the current competitiveness of the boards I’m not sure how I match up. I have 19 flight hours two cfi LOR’s and one army pilot LOR. Obviously I don’t know how it’s going to be in six months and my GPA is weak. Maybe I should grind out higher scores on my ASTB maybe push them to 8s?

Your GPA and ASTB scores look good to me.

Are you aiming for SNA?

If you want to retake the ASTB again, personally ask yourself what you think you had struggled with, and practice those concepts and tests until you feel comfortable enough to take it again.

Lastly, as anyone else will probably tell you, talk to your recruiter about where you stand and what would be the best course of action for you since they know your current situation better than anyone here. Don't stress about it too hard, you've got this.

If you want to retake the best reason is to meet ISEL criteria. You will have time to study with your surgery wait time, so that is in your favor.

USN aviation boards don't care about flight hours or LOR's, the big thing will be your ASTB.

Airwarriors,

I haven’t posted for a while, and I wanted to update you all on a couple of things.

ASTB Prep Windows Application

The ASTB Prep application now has a fully functioning Windows version for all of you to use. It has taken more time than I wanted to get it out, but you can download it now from our website. (Link below)

If you have paid through the application on an iOS or Android device, you have full access to the Windows application.

You no longer need to download the application and pay to use an outside service or another software to be able to connect the X52 or other joysticks to your Windows devices. Neither do you need to use the older Jahtzen’s sim any longer. My hope is that you get better training and reduced cost with all of this.

Future App Developments

There are still a lot of improvements I will be working on during the next couple of months that you all will like. These include all of the Syllabus and Test Question improvements. Thank you to all of you who have made suggestions to the app. I have read all of them.

If you don’t know, I also made the AFOQT & TBAS Prep Application for those of you who are taking the ASTB and the aforementioned USAF exams. I need to get the USAF products caught up to where ASTB is, and ideally, I can sell them as bundles for further reduced cost to you all.

I also have some exciting stuff for you guys that I will disclose at a later date.

Competitive Landscape for Officer Entrance Programs

Lou Henry (our coach through the application) and I entered the USNA and NROTC, respectively, after the 2008 financial crisis. It was extremely competitive to get into these programs:
- USNA
- NROTC (Scholarship and College Program)
- OCS

I bring this up because, considering the current economic climate in the US and globally, especially the high unemployment rate among young people and college graduates, these are very similar conditions that Lou and I encountered when we applied for our respective officer entrance programs. Based on our experiences, it’s essential to be prepared to compete aggressively for a slot in these programs, just as we had to. For those of you who have taken the ASTB and are currently applying for any of the mentioned programs, you’re already aware of this, and you can expect this trend to continue for the foreseeable future. If you genuinely want to succeed, you must take this seriously. Eliminate distractions, focus on your studies, and prioritize your physical and mental well-being. GETTING IN IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO GO BEYOND YOUR COMPETITION. Utilize all the resources available to you.

Thank you all for the support

It has been such an amazing experience for me to build out these applications for you all. I couldn’t have done it without your support and feedback. I really bring a lot of energy to this given that I was in your shoes not that long ago. I don’t think any other app builder in this space can say the same. I will keep going with this to support you all as much as I can. It means the world to me to hear how you guys are doing and your support; it’s honestly what keeps me going with all of this.

Let me know if you all want me to post on here more. I don’t want to spam you all.
