Hi, so I recently got Pro Rec N for SNA, my scores were 43/5/9/6. Was wondering if anyone knew what subjects on the ASTB fall under these specific scores. For example, math and mechanical is the AQR score. (I have no clue). Just need to reference so I know exactly what I need to improve on. Thanks!

The rule of thumb is typically OAR effects AQR. Math, ANIT, directional orientation and terrain ID effect FOFAR. You probably already know what to do for the PFAR

I know someone talked about it awhile ago on this thread, but I don't know where. I'll give this question a shot though. I've heard the AQR is what you know, so your OAR will be involved there, especially the ANIT (Study those flash cards). The PBM has different stuff going on for the PFAR and FOFAR, as far as the breakdown I don't know.
Hi everyone, how you all are doing well. I’m just took the ASTB for the second time and just need some extra opinions. I just took the ASTB for the second time and improved from a 47 5/5/4 to a 50 6/8/6. My GPA is 3.68 with a BS in Aeronautics and a double minor in UAS and Aeronautical Studies. As of right now I have one Navy pilot, one Air Force pilot, and one Commodore willing to write recommendations. The other two I will probably get from professors or former bosses.
My goal is SNA only and I am disappointed with the 6s especially after studying a few hours a day for three months and was hoping for the 7/7/7 for ISEL. I can’t decided whether to take my final test to try and improve a little more and risk losing the 8 or just keep the score and apply for the board in March. I have looked over the spreadsheets with board results and it looks like the score possibly falls around middle of the road which would make it a coin toss or worse with the next board being so busy. My recruiter said I should keep the score and apply, he seems pretty confident but I’ve had a pretty bad experience with a recruiter before I moved so I’m unsure if there is another motive to possibly try and get me to apply for something else. I’ve never been the best at math so that’s where I spent the majority of my studying and it sucks to see it fall short of the 7 I was hoping for on the AQR. I’m also super burnt out after three months of studying but I have enough time to take the test again before the next board if it is necessary. My math ended 18 minutes in after I had answered like 14 questions which threw me off a little. English and mechanics were pretty easy with minimal studying in both areas. I think I got every UAV question right in 1.5 seconds roughly and maybe missed one or two on the map section. I know for sure I missed the first of the three emergency procedures because the instructions were backwards so I thought 100% was 0%, but idk if that was enough to have brought my 8 down from a 9.

Personally, I’d try for the 6/8/6 in the regular board, those aren’t bad scores at all. They say your biggest improvement is going to be between your first and second tests, so you *may* get a 7/7/7, but like you said you’re risking your 8.
Especially how hard you’ve been pushing yourself for this second attempt, I wouldn’t go through all the stress and effort you would put yourself through for a third and final attempt.
Based on many people’s testimonies, letters of recommendation are not something likely to make any significant difference. If you have them, great – but I’m not confident they will make a significant impact.
