    GI Bill for fun flying

I'm in solely for tailwheel and maybe a CFI. One thing I've noticed is that the GI Bill website is not totally accurate as far as VA approved schools go as well, I'd say its a 50/50 shot at whether or not its accurate.

    GI Bill for fun flying

Titties, the local FBO is a 141 program so that works for me. I'll do some investigating and post back if I find good gouge about the GIB vs. 9/11 GIB.

    GI Bill for fun flying

Been looking at this as well. How much does the GI Bill foot towards the program? I'm looking at a about a $2,000 program at a part 141 school, is it 60/40 between what the GIB pays and out of pocket for myself?

    King Kat repair/tuneup 18-19 August

True, but that's pretty shitty and I'd explained that I never would have taken one that wasn't legally/officially obtained either though, CYA. So that Kat is hard down I take it?

    King Kat repair/tuneup 18-19 August

What kind of asshole would steal the stick grip? They are not easy to come by, and I had some friends in low places trying to secure one for me that had no joy.

    Everett Apartments

Having grown up in lynnwood and everett, the part I hated most was the traffic within the city (around malls, etc..). I would check out Mukilteo, tons of nice places, although more pricey. If I were to move back home again I would be living in that town.

    NPQ by NAMI

Mine was as well. I was waiting for the "Well when I ran from the cops I slammed into a pole and hurt ___ body part". For the OP, I had to fight for a physical waiver for 6 months while in A pool, TINS, I was 3 days from getting shown the door when the waiver came through (you could only be med...

advice for "Fallen Angel" to get commercial pilot job

As a guy that works on the training side of the airline industry, I can give you some insight as to what you would need etc... I would investigate the lifestyle a bit more as well, you will get paid crap money for a few years no matter what regional you are at, and as a new guy you'll more than...

"trip report" from the pilot of the 747 that flew the shuttle

Last Hubble repair mission, STS-125, was flown by Atlantis in 2009. A relative of mine was a crewmember, so that part of this story is at least true.

    NMCI and NROWS

I finally figured it out. MilitaryCac.com has a gouge sheet about enabling and disabling some things in IE, I got it to work using IE9 and windows 7. If anybody else is having issues, try this link and see if it helps. http://militarycac.com/files/Making_AKO_work_with_Internet_Explorer_color.pdf

Anybody able to access NROWS from home? If so what version of windows and internet browser work for you? I have no problem logging into various CAC enabled sites but NROWS won't let me no matter what browser I use (I keep getting a page not available screen). Any help is appreciated, btw, I'm...

    IRR Muster?

All I remember was being told you will be contacted for the muster and to keep your info current in deers(?). Not sure because I'm not IRR, but I would start by calling the CTO office, as painful as they are I think they would have the answer. Edit: Here is a quick link I found on the FY11...

    Air France Flt 447 Crash

Same in other products than Boeing as well. Most a/c have the ability to 'broadcast' AOA to the crew via PFD/MFD/EFIS but for one reason or another they do not. I can tell you in my airframe it is a simple cannon plug that gets unplugged after the company takes delivery, why the MFR does this I...

Not familiar with helo flying, so I won't get into the whole should/shouldn't have been that low thing, BUT, I have been witness to this career kill shot personally and its the same kind of shit that made me want to leave AD. Surviving military aviation Chapter 1: What not to do

One way to survive is to keep pranks going. All to be done in...

Surviving military aviation Chapter 1: What not to do

And the amount of "suckage" can vary extremely before the allowable limit on suckage is met. FWIW I know a few dudes with questionable off duty incidents who are still flying, so its not the end all be all either.

Moving out of Pensacola for Primary

+ 1,000,000. Save it for getting out, it was awful nice to have Uncle foot the bill for my cross country move instead of me staring at the 5k bill for the cost. T-45C Camo colors....

When I was a stud, what would have helped more in the RAG would have been getting the extra tac form and BFM flights that got cut out of a lot of classes syllabi in advanced (in order to make completion #'s), and more fleet-ish things like transiting in ATC spread instead of parade all the time...

    T-45C Camo colors....

NMM looks cool, but at low alt would blend in very well with places like sweato. West coast RAG has a poo colored rhino, and it was always a bitch trying to locate it if you were low, blended right into the mountains of 2508.

    XFER to ANG ??

The squadron I am joining is slated to go from Herc's to MC-12's in a few years based on the newest BRAC, their Herc's are supposed to go to Montana where a -15 squadron will transition, IF it happens.
  27. JD81

    XFER to ANG ??

I am doing the USN FW to ANG FW right now, and agree with everything above. Once you get hired it gets a little painful, most of the pain for me came from going from USN medical to AF medical, almost like they don't speak the same language. The more frustrating part is that most folks that...

    Marine Hornet RAG

Some strange things have happened at that place in the past. I think most of the shock for the RWSO's was going from WSO VT style of training to pilot style with regards to admin, ep's, and a few other things. The good ones had no problem, the below average dudes would struggle through, at least...
  29. JD81

    Marine Hornet RAG

+1 with MIDNJAC. My RAG experience was that RWSO's got a little more attention if they could not nail admin solidly early than the RP's did. I think the reason for this (be it fairly or unfairly) is that alot of the IP's could be clueless as to what you go through in VT's and how/what you do in...

    Little Equipment Help

Let the poor bastard figure it out the hard way. If you have not seen the movie "Hall Pass", I think it should be a pre-req for anybody about to propose, so many one liner's that sum up the single to married transition, at least it rung true for me and about 10 buddies.

+3 on the small pub bags from PR's. Use your helmet bag to haul your shit to the squadron, small pub bag for the jet. I still used mine in the rhino, came in handy on numerous occasions.

Air France 447 crash.....possibly found after 2 years

Fucked it away is what I concluded to and I am not very educated on the crash other than hearing/reading the tapes and some general FDR stuff. Concur on all. The airplane I am on hates to fly slow, and when it does it stalls and is virtually unrecoverable if your slow enough, no matter how...

T-38 BFM HUD - Funny Stuff

  42. JD81

Coast Guard pilot involved in crash to be charged with homicide

And why no negligent homicide charge for the pilot? Is he to blame for his own death? Clearly things are kept hush for a reason but I sure hope there is a reason for this mess and that its not just to screw this poor dude's life and career.

    T-45C down at Kingsville today

No doubt. There was a very cool sim IP in kingsville who was an A-4 driver, he once told me the story of his ejection at KNFL after the jet refused to go flying, he had a couple inches of height and some more LB's than me at the time he said. Sadly, he has passed on since I left kingsville...

    T-45C down at Kingsville today

So glad to hear both made it OK, if anything it should build confidence in the ejection system. As a big dude (6'3" 230) I was really nervous about makin it out of that airplane relatively injury free if I ever had to, that cockpit was a tight fit to say the very least.
