Stupid questions about Naval Aviation (Pt 2)

I can't tell if that's tongue in cheek or not but all I was getting at was that HS and HSL has been carrying HF's and have been NSW capable for a lot longer than was implied by Bogey with the armed helo.

    GI Bill Eligibility

I'm not knowledgeable about the college program, did you pay for your tuition on your own dime? The way I read the reg, if you were USNA or ROTC and had tuition paid for, you don't qualify for the MGIB. At least, that was the reason I was given for not being able to take my benefits.
  13. insanebikerboy

    GI Bill Eligibility

What I was referring to was the MGIB. Everyone qualifies for the post 9-11 GI Bill. If you paid into the MGIB but then subsequently went to the Academy or ROTC, then you don't qualify to receive those benefits anymore. I'm in the same boat as you, I'm trying to get my money back but no one...

Stupid questions about Naval Aviation (Pt 2)

Hate to burst your bubble but both HS and HSL have had the means and ability to shoot hellfires loooooong before the "armed helo", and as of yet I don't think there's been a recorded combat shot from a Navy helo. And if you're thinking nsw support, the only squadron that has done that is...

    GI Bill Eligibility

Just to address that wrt NROTC and USNA guys. If you were prior, were enrolled in the MGIB program, went to either ROTC or USNA, you are ineligible to use any benefits from that, even now with the new post 9-11 GI Bill. I tried to use my MGIB benefits and recieved a nice thanks for playing...

Mast bumping and other helo terror

That could possibly do it, but a really drastic push forward on the stick is enough to unload the head. Then, as was said, the helo is basically floating underneath the rotor, so the rotor is free to move in all directions instead of what is intended. The result can be mast bumping, which is...

    OCS-Felony Waiver

Yeah, I saw that happen first hand in boot camp. A guy did something, don't know what, but he didn't tell his recruiter. Our RDC's came and jerked his ass out of training lightening fast, then proceeded to beat the rest of us in the division while telling us this.

    OCS-Felony Waiver

In Tennessee, an expungement equates to literally a big black sharpie lining out the offense. So, if someone looks at your record, they'll see the offense marked out but won't be able to see what it was. The one thing that was unclear was whether they expunge the arrest records/officer's...

What the Navy says the weight standards should be fit the long-distance runner. Weight train at all and have greater than 3% body fat and you'll be over.

Stupid questions about Naval Aviation (Pt 2)

Actually, no, since his arbitrary question stated the individual had a ppl with complex and high performance endorsement, the said individual could log PIC time while he is the sole manipulator of the controls. In this case, the pilot is rated and legal to operate the aircraft hence he can log...

    FAA Military Equivalency Test

You can't use your training as a stud to get your ppl because the ip's aren't licensed CFI's. So, since you don't have your ppl now you can still log it as flight time but it's not countable/allowable flight time towards your ppl. Now, in the off chance there is an IP that is a CFI, he could...

    FAA Military Equivalency Test

You don't need a current medical but if you've had a medical in the past they need the number. With everyone doing IFS now that means they all have a 3rd class, whether still valid or not. Of course there's always the exception, but that's the general idea.

Getting rid of Annapolis & West Point?

The way I read what Flash wrote was that a college can ultimately boot a ROTC program off campus if they so choose, thereby removing potential scholarships/commissions. The Academies, however, will always be around providing that sure source of fresh O-1's.

That's a good idea except that's what they are getting paid to do. To each their own but I have no desire to disassemble all of my furniture and then put it back together. Plus, if you take it apart and put it back together, it could allow some leeway in liability for who's responsible if...

    USN Silent Drill Team

When I was in boot camp I was a member of the drill division. They would send guys down periodically to recruit, and they were very specific. Don't believe the recruiters if they tell you it's no problem to switch once at boot camp. It's pretty much impossible, so like has already been said, if you want it do it now.

    Ammo, Ammo, Ammo

If you clean pretty much as soon as you finish shooting, the corrosive ammo actually isn't hard to clean up. It's if you let it sit for much at all after shooting is when the red bore rears it's ugly head. If you're shooting a rifle without some sort of gas porting Hoppes or CLP will do the...

    Silencer Operation

From talking with guys that know more about it than me, they can apparently "work", just not that well. It depends a lot on how snugly the cylinder mates/seals with the barrel. Then again, no revolvers (that I know of) are tapped for a silencer. That may be the whole chicken or egg argument...

    API housing for married folks

The Florida laws actually state that the landlord and tenant can't differ from what is written in the statute, even if both the landlord and tenant agree to something else. That actually saved me when I left P-cola because I had agreed to something different and because of the way timing...
