RAG = Replacement Air Group = the old school term, when there were Air Groups instead of Air Wings. FRS = Fleet Replacement Squadron = current term. I've been around so many people that say RAG, that is what I call it, even if FRS is technically correct.
That's the big issue. The 60-80 foot tall pine trees. That, and if you're flying to 19L, there are two 200 foot hills in the way... your LAW set at 380 beeps multiple times in the approach turn on 19L. Which sucks at night by the way, you really need to know WHERE you are. Never once have I had...
We fly off BARO here. You have to, especially off 19L. If you flew off the RADALT, you'd be all sorts of fvcked up.
Our LSOs never say fly off the RADALT. They told us (and I'll agree to it based purely on my EE education) that the RADALT is innaccurate over water because of the way...
Can't say for the boat, but we use "tactical" frequencies here for formation flights. Just a few presets we can choose from for formation admin and such. Then of course there are the popular standbys..
Lots of Ice Hockey in Massachusetts where I grew up. I know you warmer climate times have never even seen real natural ice, but it exists :icon_tong
P.S. I hate the cold, but I love hockey. Played when I was a little kid.
Always always have emergency money tucked away. You think your job is that secure? Ask those guys that attrited out of API or Primary. That, and you never know when you're going to get slammed with financial burden. I have AT LEAST a months pay in my savings, at the very least.
That kinda goes out the window in wartime ops, right? I know of a couple Prowler guys that routinely operated on 4 hours a sleep a night for 3 weeks straight in the opening stages of the war.
I know I'm not a Marine, so I can't attest to that, but I think that's fairly universal with any service. I'm more mature in many aspects than any of my civilian friends. I grew up faster, because I had to. At the same time though, I think the military also lets you stay young... where else do...
What about NAVY Helo guys? Didn't seem like a whole lot had them when I was around them in Primary.
BTW... Stinky.... nice.... that must have an interesting story....
We have one IFLOLS at the field here, right now it's on 1L since the winter winds tend to shift to the north. Used to be on 19L. Our OLF has an IFLOLS on 31, never landed on 13 so I can't comment there. I got so used to flying it though,t hat when I go to the old lense, I'm sucking it hard core lol.
Now what's the difference, you're just not bound by the restrictions of the IRA right? You can move your money around how you please, take it out when you please, etc? But you pay taxes on the dividends?
Yes, the L funds are brand new. Anyone investing in them? I'm always open to new investment ideas.
Oh, forgot to add, I always shuffle money into a savings account too.
I invest in both TSP and an IRA. My TSP is setup as follows (%):
G - 10
F - 10
C - 40
S - 25
I - 15
It's more aggressive, which works since, well, I'm only 24. My IRA is invested in mid-cap stocks right now, also agressive. I'm looking to diversify.
