How long does NOMI take for PRK waiver?

As far as the waiver process, mine was done in less than a week. They really went out of their way to get it done though, so I could get commissioned as scheduled. I was very lucky to get it done that fast. Physicx, Unless it has changed, you have to wait until your 6-month post-op.

    Tips for an enlisted person.

Beefalo, According to the CREO message somebody had posted, ET is currently a better rate to advance in. If you are still entertaining the idea of another rate, I would be happy to answer any questions about IT. More so on the computer side of the IT rate though, and it would be a bit...

    What was your prior rate?

Real Men = RM. I was part of the RM "21" program. Half of my "A" school dealt with DP stuff, and we spent the last half on RM stuff. My orders to my first PermDutSta was to fill a DP billet. Eventually, they changed the rate to IT and I was an IT2 when discharged to attend NROTC...

    High year tenure

As jboomer said, the typical career promotions will be the same. However, don't you have to be a certain paygrade to continue doing 25-30 years? If so, it might be a problem for someone with lots of enlisted time. fc2spyguy, Try doing a search on augmentation. helmet, Try doing a...

If you compare that list of eligible schools to the NROTC list of universities, they are very similar. Coincidence?

New E-1 to E-6 Service Uniform

Brain fart! For some reason, I was thinking this new proposal is to replace the utilities. Forgot about the new BDU concept. I agree with you fc2spyguy, the working blues and whites would be better to keep. I wonder if a new service uniform can ever be thought of that will please the...

New E-1 to E-6 Service Uniform

According to the latest issue of Navy Times, there will be a "Phase Two" for Task Force Uniform that involves a survey. What will the survey be? Glad you asked. It will involve uniforms for E-7 and above. Yes, that means the choker whites. Uh oh, it may NEVER be choker whites anymore, but...

New E-1 to E-6 Service Uniform

Maybe I can throw in my $0.02 since I had prior time as an E. My stint stopped while the bellbottom dungarees were phased out, so I never wore those. Avoided wearing the utilities during my NROTC summer cruises. The dungarees were very comfortable and I was proud to wear them because I was...

Too much for ABC, NBC, CBS

Pol Pot led the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia; wrong continent and wrong country. It is no secret that the media is quick to produce news of any wrongdoings by a service member. We our held to higher standards, thus we will be the first ones in the spotlight if we do something questionable. Choose...

    Transition from helos to jets??

Well to continue this appreciate for Better Off Dead, perhaps more of you would consider changing your avatar and signature. If so, I have a fan site I found that has good quotes and pics. Anyone have custom PRK and/or Large Pupils?

Nozeman, I had both the custom treatment and large pupils (8.5mm). My post-op experiences were less painful than the three other people I knew get the regular PRK surgery around the same timeframe as me. Not sure if I just have a better pain threshold or what. If you have more questions...

New Gouge on Pilot Careers, straight from the 0-7 level

Cid, I am not saying that they would keep the eligibility requirements the same should they start up that program. Just posted the quote from BUPERS to support the original post by Road, which said a WO must be a CPO first, and you seemed to discount at first and pulled a Kerry on your...

NukeWife, What I was said was meant in jest. It is no suprise that an internet forum is an imperfect medium for someone to know the precise tone of a post. Nevertheless, was not meant to upset you. I was a nursing major my first two years before I decided I was more passionate about...

I guess, Nukewife, I must have bad ideas! Nonetheless, I disagree and believe that bad idea...is really a good idea. Having your family with you is important. Besides, why miss out on the first months of your child when you are not deployed? When you deploy with your future squadrons, you...

    Old Glory

I have to disagree with this. It definitely does not apply to all ceremonial details. When I was prior E, I had the privilege of being on funeral detail for 3 years. It was an honor, and a rewarding collateral duty. Our flags would be folded either perfect or very close to perfect. I can...

PilotCPB, It depends on what part of Pcola you are in. Everything takes time to rebuild, but they are doing a good job. Maybe irrelevant, but just last week they completed the I-10 Eastbound Bridge over Escambia Bay. I think the latest figure was that Escambia County has 27,000+ houses...

    Proper Helmet Fitting?

Thank you for the reply! I tried the helmets on a few months ago and the two medium sizes were the best fit...wasn't able to see the roll when I looked up on either one of them. The first medium I tried, it had a few layers taken out from that removable portion. The fit was comfortable...

    Proper Helmet Fitting?

Perhaps I should post this in Primary, but since we get our helmets in API this should be fine. Is it better to wear a helmet that allows you to barely hear someone talking to you or to have one where you have to read lips? I imagine the latter one would decrease external noise while flying...

    Hard to Stay Motivated?

Excuse my laziness to look up the difference between SWO and SWO-EDO. Regular SWO's stand EDO when they get qualified on small boys. From my understanding, those that qualify are basically "Cheng-for-the-night" when on EDO watch in port. EOOW is for underway. I could be wrong but clearly...

ET-Mike, I was also in the meeting with trvsmrtn. Our Skipper was reading from an email which stated that FY-05 OCS spots will be reduced, but no word on NROTC or USNA spots. The situation seemed to be caused by the expedited removal of S-3/F-14 squadrons. Waiting until March 05 to go to...
