I think what you're hearing is the Noise Gate on the mic 'opening' and 'closing'. The Noise Gate is the electronic control on the mic (used in Music/PA a lot) that keeps it from picking up all the engine and other cockpit noise. The gate on aviation headsets is set to attack (open and close)...

This is O-So true. My #1 gripe about the AF is that they couldn't care less about what kind of officer you'll make, but are more concerned with what you're allergic to and your GPA. Definitely not much of a whole person concept.

I don't know where you got this from, but its BS. Obviously a higher GPA will look better on the application, but GPA isn't everything. Your ASTB scores will be more/equally as important and the Navy really tends to look at the whole person rather than some number. Your GPA does not say who...

Thats more or less what the doc told me. The physical doesn't expire, but the piece of paper in the back that has his signature on it and is last thing he fills out during the physical does have a date and has to be renewed.

The doc at Beaufort MCAS told me that all I would have to do is to get a new 'upchit' or whatever they call it (the small piece of paper in the back of the folder) and the flight physical would be good to go. So no, you shouldn't have to redo the physical.

I saw that same show. Looks like a fun way to launch. What really surprised me was the fact that they could get an SU-33 up using that method. I thought that was pretty cool. I'd like to see an F15 go off the front of an AMPHIB!!!!
