A disgrace to every Navy vet in the past century

too bad about this. like c420 I spent many weekends working on this great ship, but we havnt done so for a few semesters now. even though the work sucked it was a great way to learn some neat things about our history! i never thought i'd say this but i miss working on the Olympia!

1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

hmmm i heard, could be wrong, that the Academy types just had to pass it, ie 5's, and that there wasnt a pass/fail thing for us ROTC guys, ie that 5's were average but we just had to score at least 6's or 7's to be competitive...heard this from one of my buddies who went on cruise with some...

    What should I know?

should have qualified that...our unit indoc also runs through part of the first semester, about the first 5 or 6 weeks...it sucks because in addition to being new freshmen adjusting to college life, they also have to handle all the indoc harassment four times a week...it does teach them valuable...

    What should I know?

hmm interesting....im on my unit's freshmen orientation staff and our o week looks pretty similar, however, we also decided to go a few times per week in the morning during the semester...i have no idea why this is, but its always been done that way

  14. Yardstick

    What should I know?

i didnt go through the newport orientation, but for us during our indoc, the big thing was to be prepared physically. dedicate yourself from now until you show up to getting in the best shape you can. just realize that everyone in your group is going to be equally clueless at the beginning, so i...

    NROTC class for elective?

i agree...i would not waste your time with intro to nav sci...i would take l&m if you could because there are lots of practical lessons to take away...havnt taken ethics yet, but that would probably also be a winner

1,001 questions about the ASTB (post your scores & ask your questions here!)

jokes, like jph said, 60 is a very solid score...obviously it could be higher, but i would not lose any sleep over having that score...imho there is something else in your package which caused your non-select...either that or you just were on a very competitive board, who knows...best of luck

My experience and gouge on the ASTB

    ASTB - Prep/Study Guide feedback

a big thing that helped me was that i made flash cards of key terms which i found in the prep books...if i was ever bored, i would just whip them out and quiz myself real quick. it was a great supplement to my regimented study...i would definitely recommend the barrons book, and i also thought...

    ASTB - Prep/Study Guide feedback

the big issue on this is managing your time...if you come to a question that seems absurd like that, just skip it and do an easier one...then, when you finish the section and hopefully have time to check answers, you'll be able to go back over the things that tripped you up...i did this and...
