Two Weeks at OCS: How to Get NPQ'd

The knee pain sounds like it might be tendonitis (which I've had). It will get worse when running on hills. Wear a knee brace or support, but don't get too dependent on them. Strengthen your quads and all the muscles around your knee cap. Here are some exercises which will help...

    "Stolen Valor" story

To be fair, there are many documented cases of things like this happening in WW2. One of the most famous ones: http://www.ifma-austin.org/facs/Propdamage.htm Sailors and Marines can do exchange tours with the AF, but the "OPSEC excuse" makes it sound like bs.

    Age waivers for Marines

Unfortunately NA age waivers are not being approved at this time; this might change in a few months, but there are no guarantees. NFO age waivers are still good to go.

I've been told 23 is too old for air contract?

I wouldn't know, but it's just the way it is. Age cut-offs are 27 for Navy, and 27.5 for Marines (0.5 = 6 months). This is straight from HQMC.

I've been told 23 is too old for air contract?

For the USMC, the age limits are 27.5 for SNA and 29 for SNFO. This refers to the age you have to be commissioned by. You can also apply for an age-waiver beyond that (even if you're not prior-enlisted), although they're currently not giving them out to SNA hopefuls.

It's been a while since I read the book, but it actually goes over that. As I recall, the "mutiny" was more of less a rumor/myth that originated during the days of the raids themselves. Brit Chinook pilot shot in face, lands helo, gets DFC.

Well, I don't think it's fair of anyone to judge, lest they have been shot in the forehead themselves (bullet fragments did penetrate his helmet) and had blood pouring into their eyes as they are flying a loaded helo with severed hydraulic lines.

One of the things I found interesting in Pappy's own book, are his descriptions of Japanese civilians. There are a very few available (think 1 NFO slot per OSO office). January OCC slots are looking the same number wise. YMMV.
