A slow fight is like a knife fight in a phone booth, sooner or later, someone gets it.
Speed is Life.
Alls fair in love and war, and getting your wings.

I've heard the reason for the gull wing was to keep from having to make the main landing gear too tall to prevent a large prop from striking the ground.
If you look at the pictures above...if it had a straight wing, the huge prop would have hit the ground.
Anyone lese heard...
Yes, you said that already
"Can anyone give me some clear information on what happened to the Stennis packages from last year? I heard that they were all disqualified due to the 2nd command interviews were not completed and the CC told all the candidates that everything was taken care of and...
Yup, knew it.
Didja know...the horizontal stabs on an F-111 and Tomcat are virtually identical. Also most cockpit gages to include wingspeep gage are almost identical.
SA...airspeed crosscheck read out...altitude crosscheck and readout...radio comms...command ejection capability.
Basically every amanuever has a preset a/s and alt it starts and or finishes at and has certian parameters it has to meet mid-event. The NFO hawks all that to backup the pilot in...

Let me ask a couple of questions and I bet I can kill that rumor. You will find that type of info is often not quite 100% accurate when someone is *****ing and moaning about not getting accepted for something. During my tenure, we did have packages not get sent due to...
I was the guy that worked with packages and did interviews on the Stennis.
Tips for STA-21...have all your high school, college, junior college transcripts in hand...START NOW collecting them. Also take the SAT or ACT early and often...your best scores are the only ones that matter...
What a waste of gas...
Does the public really think we wear shades and such like that? Ahhh so much Hollywood I suppose...
Now this guy Clancy...he just has a huge melon.
Oh yeah, I hate those typical whiny RIOs, too. A damn waste of good space I say...I'd rather have 200 pounds of...

Here she is looking as good as it gets. I worked here while in flight school 86-late 87 time frame. Wasn't much back then, but it grew considerably in the past ten years. Spent many a night there...

Cool. He was great fun to deply with. I flew with him in the C-2 a couple of times. Have him give me a ring at DSN 281-6070 if he has a chance. We deployed on the JCS in 01 after 9/11. Spent some quality time holding up a bar stool with him at the "Thunderdome" in Bahrain. He also helped me...
I've done many fly-bys but not quite that low. Yeah that was Dale "Snort" Snodgrass. He came by the academy during our last service selection night last Feb.
The thing with low fast fly-bys is the baro altimeter becomes twitchy at .95 or so due to supersonic airflow over the pitot-static...
AB launches not authorized for F-14B or D
Actually....
The F-14B and D are prohibited from taking off in afterburner CVN or shore based. MIL power take off only. Reason is you would overspeed the gear (250kts sop, 280 kts NATOPS) before you could get the gear up.
Not to say I...
Have all the recent and future Hurrevacs (Hurricane Evacuation) had any effect on SNA and SNFO training. Anyone slid a few weeks, been on a Hurrevac...or gotten the big CNX?
We used to fly our jets from Oceana to Wright Pat.

I knew "Squid" Squires, too. Sailed with him when he was a VAW CO. He was a good man...still is. Unfortunately this is a fact of life when you assume the respnsibility of command...and the Navy's zero defect mentality is rampant.
The "temporary only" BS is bogus.. He's done.

The propeller is just a big fan in the front of the plane to keep the pilot cool. Want proof? Make it stop; then watch the pilot break out into a sweat.
I dig cool aviation quotes like that.

Punks' War
Read the book "Punks' War" by Ward Carrol...probably the most true depiction of squadron and boat life you can imagine. This is an easy read. The author is a former F-14 RIO.

Not that hard to pass as you can see. Definitely get easier as you get older. You don't need an outstanding to pass. In fact all your fitrep will say is PW/S "passed within...
Yes, transitions do occur. However, you typically have to be a top performer in your community or the gaining community won't want you.
Most F-14 RIOs are going to the F/A-18F platform.
And S-3 NFOs are transitioning to F/A-18F, EA-6B, P-3 and E-2C communities.
It is a slow process that...
Believe about 2% of what you "hear" happened. The only true source of info is a privileged mishap report, any eyewitness or a Jag investigation which is available to the public.
Sometimes mishaps stories become the stuff of urban legends...
I knew this guy once that....

This humor reminds me of a foc'sle follies on the carrier enterprise following a long line period in the gulf. Two guys hid behind a sheet and stuck their bare asses through a hole in the sheet. They'd painted eyes and noses on their butts. Thus "the Butt Brothers" were born.

The plane is just a machine it doesn't care who manipulates the controls. It will kill a man as quick as a woman if you let it. Pilot skill is not gender dependant.
I've seen good and bad male pilots fly fighters, likewise with females.
I've had female pilots on my wing over Iraq in...

I definitely did not enter naval aviation for the pay when I started.
But it helps, bonus ACCP also is nice.
Flying has been the best job "I've never had."
I would do it all over again if I could, lots 'o pay or little pay.

Pay is good...just takes time to get there...
I'd beg to differ that our pay is that bad....
Here's my current numbers: Base Pay $5733, BAS $175, BAH $1985, Fly Pay $840
That's about $8733 a month...which is about $104k a year. Our pay is public record. In fact it's published in Navy...
