Please tell me I'm not crazy...

If you're planning on doing any sightseeing during said road trip be sure to have your company bring a good camcorder and camera to document what you will more than likely be squinting at... cursing and frustrated. Seriously, I was wearing sunglasses inside with the blinds closed in every...

You should feel great about it! To be sure that pilot and NFO selects are prepared for it, the morning PT at OCS will now include jazzercise as a part of the dynamic warm-up routine (DI led I believe). Get some!:D

Please tell me I'm not crazy...

Not trying to be Mr. Negative, but I wasn't comfortable watching TV for about a week let alone driving/flying. I had a pretty bad prescription prior to going under the laser so maybe my recovery was worse b/c of that, but I don't know for sure. I'd say it's a bad idea, based on my experience, to...

    One Sentence Advice

Best advice yet. Some of the guys who finished top of my class didn't take a peek at info on any forum or website before OCS. Honestly, you don't need to know anything before going in other than what to bring.

    One Sentence Advice

    1. As a Candio, if anybody wearing a red rope on their sleeve asks the class if anybody here is "good at excel" DON'T volunteer no matter how hot you are at spreadsheets. A fellow pilot select raised his hand and got stuck inventorying and cataloging ALL of the new OCRs... 2. NEVER go see the...

    Are Pilots Born?

To echo the majority I was/am that guy who is looking up at the sound of anything in the air, and I used to go to air shows when I was younger and get star struck when I saw military pilots and jets. And I definitely was beat, twice, at OCS for looking up at the black hawks and C-130s from the...

    Which watch?

I ordered one of these yesterday. The people at Chris Ward were awesome to deal with. I paid for it yesterday and it was in the mail the same day. Everything I read about the brand and watch was very positive... and the price is awesome. It's a 44mm, which is a bit larger than what I want, but I...

    Which watch?

I played with one last week on a cruise. It is pretty sharp (and looks sharp) and comes with in ti with a ti band also. It functioned very well and worked as advertised and the settings were accurate. I would have gotten one on the spot if the money weren't an issue... but then again, if the...

    Good Watch Recomendation

I brought a Sunnto to OCS and quickly ran and bought a 30$ G-SHOCK at Walmart a few days after candio-land b/c it was all I needed and I was beating up the other. On a side note, I just got back from a cruise and if you're planning on going on one anytime soon and are thinking of picking up...

    Navy Supply Corps ODS???

I'm not sure if this is a backwards way of thinking, but the suck at OCS, compared to ODS, definitely makes the ENS feel a little more accomplished if he/she went through OCS. In talking to supply guys at OCS they all were in agreement that although they all agreed that OCS is a kick in the...

    The fiance is considering...

My fiance (wife in May) is considering JAG. She has a JD and an MBA with 2 years of experience. I've done some research and found that the Navy tries to work it out so that we could be at the same duty station if we were both commissioned. Don't flame... that's not the reason she is thinking...

    NPQ from OCS

I know this guy... he was in my class. I checked in 11 JAN 09. Up until week 5 we did not do one PT session or have one beating outside... nor did any other class. But, the day after RLP we got destroyed... no joke we got beat about 5-7 times over the course of a few hours along with some mini-beatings at drill. The difference...

It seemed that for most of the math problems there was a short way and a long way to get the same answer... or in other words, there are short-cuts that you should know that will help you reduce your overall time. I''m not encouraging this, b/c it would get annoying for those on the receiving end, but my OR was out of town for a while and I called the NRD Miami and asked them directly (I worked out of the Tampa office). The guy there gave me my date and everything.

That's not me, but I do sell quite a bit on ebay. Sorry if this isn't helpful, but in my experience it is much less of a chore selling with better (higher) feedback scores. I think paypal just recently started a new buyer protection policy that makes it more of a risk to sellers who have low...

    ASTB Scores

I was picked up with a 6/6/6 50, but I also am a jedi, so that kinda improved my package a bit. The ASTB is a big part of your package, but only a part. Talk you your OR and see if they are content with those scores -- if not than you take it again.

How far along in the application process are you? I ask because this can take a while... about 8 months in my case, and if you are walking on glass when it comes to talking about the Navy with her be advised that meeting with your recruiter doesn't 'calm down' throughout the process. I'm not...

All of your questions can be answered by a recruiter. There is no way you are going to get anywhere without a recruiter, so might as well get in touch with one just to get the ball rolling. Once you find one ask them what's on your mind and then use the forum to fill in the gaps. In regards...

    What a bitch

My '6 month' exam was more like 5.5 month exam because that was when they could fit me in. If you really want to get to MEPS earlier than you probably could get away with scheduling the exam a littler earlier, but again that's how it worked out for me... On a side note, I just saw the eye...

    sTUPID qUESTIONS aBOUT ocs

In regards to getting rolled, I understand that the more common times to roll are at the in-PFA and the RLP. But, are there any other times that are more common than others other than those two? It sounds like a lot of times people get sick or injured and have to go to H until they heal up, but...

    Any volunteers?

I'm pretty sure they are modified P-3s. I actually was at MacDill last year and took a tour of the NOAA hanger where they keep their hurricane research aircraft. The pilot also had quite a few stories as you can imagine. Pic was taken from NOAA's site.
  35. srqwho

    Any volunteers?

Agreed and agreed. Plus, our history of hurricane modification hasn't been exactly stellar. During one attempt, the day after the hurricane was seeded it turned around 180 degrees and hit Georgia. The article mentions A-4s, but the patent on the books has F-117ish looking things doing the work.

    Any volunteers?

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn16172-invention-supersonic-hurricane-neutraliser.html?DCMP=OTC-rss hmmm. I'm thinking it would really suck if for some reason or another the pilot had to bail out while he was neutralizing a hurricane.

    Stress Fracture Cross Training

I'm assuming that you didn't see a podiatrist for the tibia pain, but I think they are the ones who mold your feet for orthotics... if you decide to go that route and get new ones.
