Poli Sci and fly baby! Getting the GPA is the best thing you can focus on as a Freshman. I've seen too many 4th classes dick around their freshman year and put themselves in the whole academically. Just make sure you hit the ground running when school starts. Noze

Yeah, you guys that get tours suck! We got yelled at by some Marines and learned all the basic drilling etc. My advice to you: plan on it sucking. You're going to be exposed to a whole new world in a very short time, and probably will be yelled at as well. Plan on being humbled for a week!

Yeah, I think the Marine involvement differs from unit to unit. It probably all depends on how much the MOI wants to be involved in running the battalion etc. I think it also depends tremendously on the Gunny. I've had two different gunnies now, some can be more in the background to straighten...

Aviation Technology is MONEY! bch, The AvTech mids at our unit definitely have the best deal out of anyone in NROTC. For the pilots, they get all of their gas, planes, and instructors paid for! For the maintainence side, the unit provides the tools to do all of the work in their labs...

Buddy, If youre going to Purdue, join NROTC!! I'm going to be a junior in the unit and I can honestly say its the best decision I've ever made. Our unit is real close knit, and if youre interested in being a Marine Option, our unit is very popular for that. I'd say we have about 40 Marine...

Yeah, if you drink tons of water and dont keep enough salts in your system, thats bad. I think a Marine recruit or two died because they drank too much water and didn't keep enough salt in the body. If youre going to drink a ton of water, make sure your food is salty to keep it in balance.

Regular pushups on your palms. Full situps. 1.5 mile run in....I suppose the standard is different for everybody. I know in my NROTC unit that you have to get a 10:30 or youre on remedial PT.

Usually people go on CORTRAMID after their freshman year, but thats only if they have a 4 year scholarship. If you pick up a 3 year you can go on CORTRAMID in place of a normal second class cruise. I have about 3 or so friends here that are doing that.

I'm not exactly sure if there's a limit to how long a cruise can be. Basically you stay as long as your orders tell you to. I can tell you that a guy from my unit was on a sub for 42 days!! Mine is rather long at 26 days. Most of the guys from my unit will only be underway for 2 weeks or so...

Just got my summer cruise today. I will be on a fast attack out of Groton from 28 MAY to 26 JUN. It's supposed to be underway for 26 days!!!!
