And all were deserved. Why don't you go play with bensgouge.com that'll calculate NSS perfectly.....

    Class sizes

Don't be a douche-bag and try and "game" it. NSS/Selection is what it is and everyone has to deal with it. You aren't entitled to anything, so STFU and deal.

    Bersa 9mm

To echo that, I bought a brand new Browning Buckmark (.22lr) this summer for $270 out the door. Good deals to be had out there. But if you're still looking into a more serious caliber in that range...used Glock, Ruger etc.

CMP: Garands & '03's coming up

Holy thread resurrection!!!! I'm thinking of making a drive up to Anniston soon to pick out my very own M1 Carbine! I think it'd make a nice winging gift to myself...just need to get permission...

    Bersa 9mm

I love this arguement/statement, what the hell for? A 9mm with the high quality JHPs that are out there will do the job just as well. If he was using FMJ, then you'd have an arguement. I like this approach. If you are going to spend in the 400-500 range, go with a high quality used...

Swapping out aircrews/personnel with aircraft remaining deployed...and ships

I think I just saw a bit on "Future Weapons" about the 57mm that the Brits are producing. It looks pretty badass, especially w/ the different shells it can shoot. The spin on the TV show is that it's meant to be used against small boats and shore targets. In the context of LCS, it seems to...

    Revolvers anyone?

This is what I have on the wall of my office. Gramps gave it to me some years back after 50+ years of sitting on HIS wall. Remington 1858 .44. I presume it was Army issue. But I submit I don't know for sure.

    Help on Selection Choices

I must have glossed over this one earlier... WTF, man, why can't helo guys teach engines??? Last I checked, we use jet engines also. A turboshaft isn't a helluva lot different than a turbofan conceptually. I'm also fairly certain that helo guys fly with enlisted flight crewman....i.e...

Merged: Vermont ANG F-16 Pilot Grounded for Flyover Fenway

I had an agenda, that was the best way to work it in! FLYTPAY has a good point, I bet they were listening to Queen's "One Vision" during the flyover... but seriously, these guys had to be lower http://www.cbsnews.com/elements/2006...17_photo.shtml...

Is it wise to get civilian flight training before API?

Don't waste your money. As long as you're not an idiot, the IFS program will give you a descent intro to flying without costing you a dime (besides the travel part...). .....but statistically speaking, 73.4% of jet guys had previous flight time that they paid out of pocket for....

    Getting married in ROTC?

Check your facts about Catholicism. I stood up in my friend's Catholic wedding after he had a JOP wedding 1 year prior. It's not that big a deal, especially why the Priest understands (and suggests it!) the hassles of getting married in the military.

Life of a JO depending on Path...

Honestly, in the aviation side the only time we mention where we went to college is when we're sh*t talking about sports. Oh, and funny drinking stories, every commissioning source/college has its own adventure and I enjoy hearing stories from my academy buds and I like sharing mine as well...

    Pilot's gun discharges in flight

The M11 is actually a Sig P228, the compact version of the 226. And I dont think the 226 "chassis" is able to be converted to .45.....Sig just designed the single-stacked P220 instead. Nittany pointed that one out, P220 compacts would be a nice addition to the flight gear. Too bad the AF is...

    Pilot's gun discharges in flight

You can keep your finger off the trigger, right? That's why Glock is "Safe Action". All the safeties are buily into the trigger, the most effective being the one between your ears.

    How to build an AR15?

I've got some questions on Kalifornia M4's. I read the law that Squid posted earlier in the thread and it makes it sound like AR-15s in general are not allowed in California. Exactly what parts are you using to get around this? I dont really understand the "off-list" lower or the magazine...

    NROTC vs. Academy

This one time, at a normal college w/ NROTC, I woke up at 10am....during the school week! Doing NROTC at a state university gives you the opportunity to be pretty flexible with your life. There is plenty of time to fulfill your NROTC obligations, do school work (depending on major), and join...

"ALL IN" on the 2nd AMENDMENT???

......forgive me for being too general.... For all intents and purposes, Chicago is VERY similar to D.C. It will be interesting to see that if the pro-gun side is successful in D.C. attention may be directed towards Chicago. But here is the article I was referring to in regards to...

"ALL IN" on the 2nd AMENDMENT???

Don't think that the article is too pro-2nd amendment. If you click throught the 44 or so pictures you will get a different spin on it. A few have a caption about how Euros don't understand why Americans love guns so much when there are 84 gun deaths a day, with ~30 being homicides. Talk...

  36. NozeMan

    TH-57 fleet grounding

You answered your own question! When the IP rolls the twist grip to flight idle while in a hover/hover taxi, we recover by using the remaining inertia in the rotor. The rotor will still provide enough lift as the RPM decays to soften the landing. It's almost easier to have a soft landing from...

What whalepelt said. Get it in as soon as you can and be professional. They should be able to accomodate you. I changed my first choice school during the fall of my senior year after I already had the scholarship. It wasn't even a reason as legit as yours, I decided that I didn't want to...

    Military Aviation Major

money Seriously, major in what you enjoy, especially if you can get some sort of aviation contract where your major doesn't play a factor. I'd say it's more important to do well in major you enjoy vs. pursuing one that may "help" you career-wise. No, it wont help you get jets, but...

Think we should buy it? The Air Force in jeopardy of losing dominance of the sky

Bunk, I think you misread my statement. I know that the Navy G-limits their aircraft like the Prowler and T-34 (4.5???). My question was whether or not the AF puts some limitations on F-16s and F-15s to make their airframes last longer.
  40. NozeMan

Think we should buy it? The Air Force in jeopardy of losing dominance of the sky

Gasp, the AF might not get EXACTLY what it wants. I also found it interesting that the article mentioned corrosion etc playing a role in the aging of their aircraft. Funny how their aircraft are disintegrating after 20 years of being LAND BASED and the Navy/Marines can keep 20+ year jets...

Need advice on "Officer Interview" for NROTC 4-yr scholarship

Don't get too caught up in the 100% selection rate. Everyone who I went to school with that put down pilot #1 got it. It has NOTHING to do w/ your school, it's all about credentials. Get good grades, you'll get SNA. It's as simple as that. Oh, and major in whatever the hell you want...

I had some pretty finicky sinuses for the whole year prior to flight school. I was treated for infections and bronchitis, both using antibiotics. A doc finally treated it as an allergy and gave me flonase/claritin which took care of the problem. I was referred to the ENT at NOMI who gave me...
