    My youngest son (he's a CT) got a 3 year tour of instructor duty in Hawaii cut short by 2 years. He has to leave Hawaii in December and go to Bragg for training. He then reports to a PRT in Afghanistan. This comes after 3 years of sea duty on a foward deployed CG.

    I remember the post-Tailhook "Bart Simpson" patch. The Wing absolutely banned the patch from flight jackets, so I wound up sewing them on the inside of the jacket. All you could see from the outside was the tell-tale stitching. Who says Naval Aviators aren't creative? :)

    The Goat Locker in Iwo was pretty small (maybe 40 khaki?) but we "tipped" our mess crank pretty well every payday. As a result, there was ALWAYS sandwich meat and cheese in the reefer and ice cream in the freezer for those times after the mid-watch when you were feeling a bit "peckish"
