Most Naval Aircraft do not use an optimum glidespeed, but use an optimum AOA instead. An optimum glidespeed is variable based on weight, but AOA is AOA and the airframe only has 1 optimum AOA.

In both communities that I have been in, you went VFR direct to the detailer but kept the front office in the know. They did not negotiate on your behalf at all. I would be pissed at losing that control over the future!
