Learning to fly as a civilian

You should have tried www.half.com or ebay first. I just purchased the Deluxe Kit (Like the one on www.jeppesen.com) for $80. Great deal, considering it is $175 brand new (yes, it is an updated version...2002 matter of fact). Dustin

    OCS date in BDCP

It sure feels good to be getting E-5 pay. It helps out a lot!!! Dustin

    OCS date in BDCP

Congratulations Leothelion. It's glad to hear that I'm not the only one milking the system around here in the BDCP for 3 years. I have probably taken advantage of every possible option active duty allows (that includes MGI Bill), and am loving every bit. Dustin

    OCS date in BDCP

Scarry?? Why that's where responsibility comes into play my friend. Remember, when you're in the BDCP, you're subject to the UCMJ (and yes, ALL of the rules and regulations). Because of this, you sometimes have to make some lifestyle changes (even before you go to OCS) Reality is a #$#tch...

    OCS date in BDCP

Well, Solenita Your husband must have been pretty lucky. From what I understand, the Navy doesn't like to pay BDCP'ers more than they have to. (Usually, you graduate , then you ship a month or two) But, your husband was able to milk the system for 9 MONTHS??? Take advantage of that as much...

Pool Time for NFO and SNA candidates at OCS

Thanks for the input guys. According to my recruiters, they JUST changed the rule that the BDCP'ers now don't HAVE to take the 500-yd swim before we go. They said it is highly encouraged though. When I joined the BDCP over 2 years ago, it was said in my contract that I had to complete that...

    OCS date in BDCP

This is a case of something that you DON'T want to happen. From what I understand, if you don't stay on track, the BDCP board can boot you out of the program and make you serve your 2 yr. enlisted commitment, per contract. If you don't graduate on time, and you would graduate the semester...

Learning to fly as a civilian

I forgot to ask these questions in my previous reply: Is there a difference between the Jeppesen editions (i.e. publication years)? There are many 1995, 1997 and other editions out there. The Jeppesen website lists a 1999 edition with CD. I seem to like their Deluxe Kit that includes a lot...

Learning to fly as a civilian

Okay guys, I have a couple of questions also about getting the ole' PPL. For background purposes, I am in the BDCP program with an OCS date of Aug 2, '03. I would like to get my PPL before I go to OCS if possible. I have read your comments on getting the books and studying them on my own...

Has anyone heard, been denied, or accepted lately?

Everyone, There is a forum where you can post your stats. This shows where you rank with others that are (or will be) at OCS with you. It's called Stats and Scores, I think. There are some pretty competitive people out there, so be smart and study hard. Good luck everyone. Dustin

Update your title on your posts

"BDCP for SNA" will work for me. Thanks, Dustin

    Confused

If you are a Junior in college, you might want to look into the BDCP program (that's what I am in) Talk to your nearest Recruiter Headquarters (usually where the Officer Recruiters are), and they can explain a little bit about the programs, and the requirements. Good luck though.

Pool Time for NFO and SNA candidates at OCS

I have a question about this... I have a copy of a API schedule that I got somewhere (probably off this site) that shows there are swimming tests. (i.e. the 1-mile swim). This is in API right? If not, where would it be? Not in primary. Being in the BDCP program we are (or were) required to...

    Navy Flight Clubs

Thanks guys for all the info. I'll check out the websites. So, I guess there is a Navy Flight Club at just about all Air Stations; am I correct? OC2 McCallister

    Navy Flight Clubs

Anyone know what the Navy Flight Club is all about? I am in the BDCP, and won't go to OCS until August, but I have heard a little information about the Navy Flight Club. Can you get your Private Pilot's License thru the Flight Club? How about at the same time you are in flight school? I put...

    What happened to AFP???

I bet that sim was... Not everyone is as lucky as you are, or others that know CO's or Admirals personally. Once you know someone high up, you get a lot of favors passed down to you. Again, I wish I was that lucky. Dustin

    What happened to AFP???

I know that I am going to be a Navy guy, but I wanted to see a close-up on what actual flight training is like. I have read many journals (including the ones on this webpage) as well as Bogueys and Bandits (good book). All of these books gave me a taste of what it will be like once I get to...

question about JETS and being navy officer

Alright CG smartass. Since you are so lame and have absolutely NO common sense, I will answer your questions for you. Okay???? Just DON'T ask them for a 10th time. What's up with "I only have 1 question", then you go on to say, "I just have 1 other question". What's up with this? Read...

question about JETS and being navy officer

Everyone, Is there anyone that takes this CollegeGuy seriously? Read his reply's again. His grammar doesn't go past 6th grade. I can guarantee everyone here that College Guy is someone other than a person trying to go to flight School. CollegeGuy, if you really, really are the 20-year old...

    Depth perception mega thread

Everyone- I just wanted to put my 2 cents in. I failed the Depth Perception at MEPS, but before I went for my physical, I passed it 100% at an optometrist's office. I went again last month to make sure I am good to go (OCS Aug 2 '03) and I had no trouble at all. Also, I had vision of 20/15...
