You keep your commission. What I THINK Patmack 18 is referrign to is the old NAVCAD program where enlisted guys came in, went to OCS, went through the program, and then were commissioned upon winging. This program died in the early 90's I think. Now all SNAs/SNFOs are officers upon starting...

Can you even augment while in the program? I thought you had to be winged for at least 2 yrs or something. I wasn't even offered the option until I had made O-3. It took almost a year to go through (deployment didn't speed things up).

I start Spanish here at the Defense Language Institute tommorrow. The extra pay only kicks in after you have completed a government course here in Monterey, and even then you need to be in a billet which requires you to use that language (not SNA, sorry). When i get more details I'll post 'em.

What P-3 guys are seriously worried about this? All that's been mentioned is a UAV control post onboard the MMA. I sincerely doubt any winged naval aviators are going to be in an operational squadron, and only qualified to pilot a UAV. The more likely scenario is an AW type enlisted guy...
