I don't think they give out belt buckles with quarter master any longer. A few classes behind mine were given anodized (wimps!). I sure HATED polishing that crap off my buckle. I rubbed my thumbs raw. I don't suppose it is an evolution designed to be enjoyable though.

our current INS system is pretty darn good. how good, you'd have to ask a nav. We have a nice GPS too, but we're not allowed to use it for primary navigation (though i've NEVER had it be wrong). We don't do an celestrial nav at all. Personally, I just ask for vectors everywhere.

I think it is assembled in TX, they are built over seas. Since ours are a bit different from the stock ones we finish the mods to them here. The airframe and much of avionics still comes from Eurocopter.

Oh yes, having a good package helps too. They like to see a well developed package on a naval aviator. Believe it or not, the package you come in with will get thicker throughout your naval career.
