Honduran Democracy -- Central American style ...

Calling it "our own backyard" is one of the key errors made in analyzing the area. I had the same attitude prior to serving down there, and while I tempered that after my tour, further (formal) study highlighted how f-ed up that perception is. These are hemispheric neighbors, not client...

A summer project for the stashed and/or shore-toured

Just search for "trash can smoker." There're a few different versions. A lot of them involve an electric hot plate. I tried that, and didn't like it. With the hole in the bottom, and a "door" made of heavy cardboard (I gotta get some tri-wall), I can swap out fire boxes easily with my...

A summer project for the stashed and/or shore-toured

I enjoy telling people, "yeah I made this in a trash can," as I serve the ribs in the lid. I should have added to the cost of construction: about $15 bucks for a case of beer.

A summer project for the stashed and/or shore-toured

I'm at a shore command, enjoying banker's hours, great weather, and weekends to myself. Being a foodie and bbq lover, I was craving brisket. Unfortunately, southern Florida has more cuban sandwiches than true bbq. Did some internet research and found a DIY answer. So I built a trash-can...

How long is the P-3 RAG?

I work in FMS. Very very basically, having to modify an older airframe and then maintain it as an additional, permanently partially mission capable aircraft does not work out in the overall cost-benefit analysis.
  15. zab1001

How long is the P-3 RAG?

You'll get your required hours for flight pay without padding hours. If for some reason you don't get the hours, you get a waiver.

How long is the P-3 RAG?

Um, no. The FRS is like 12-13 flights (someone else is more current on this than me). You come out a conditionally qualified as a 3P. The you go to your Sea Tour. Usually you upgrade in your Fleet squadron (NOT the FRS) to PPC in 18 months-ish. That means roughly 9-ish months as a 3P and...

How long is the P-3 RAG?

Pilot time is what counts toward required hours for Patrol Plane Commander. Special Crew Time is not counted. Right. And to reiterate, SCT does not count. If you are on a 4 hour training flight, your pilot time is what is ultimately used. It is a big deal. Padding hours is shady at...
