    EP's

As I started reading your post, I was sure you were going to say "and if you're wrong, you show them the brain..." (underrated flick BTW)
  2. zab1001

    EP's

I actually used to have quasi-lucid dreams of me flying my bed around south Texas, trying to remember EPs. I started sleeping on the floor, it worked out much better.

    Gi Joe

Those vids are old, but hilarious. I wonder how many work hours I wasted behind a cipher lock watching those all day.

    Ensuring Your VT Squadron

Did I miss something? Does VT-3 do some kind of AF program, different from what VT-6 and 2 use? I sincerely doubt the procedures for an approach turn stall are that different, considering all the IPs do the same IUT. IPs are IPs, and it all comes out in the wash anyway. Just be glad you...

    Ensuring Your VT Squadron

"I want Corpus, no Pensacola, I want VT-2, no VT-6, I want..." "YOU'LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT!"

    Ensign Rank

That would be pretty upscale, think Scorpions and Queensryche. I'm not kidding.
  7. zab1001

    Ensign Rank

Considering the age of the equipment I deal with, it's more like "The Navy...it was this or jail..."
  8. zab1001

    Ensign Rank

Beats the fvck out of me. Remember, it's 1989 forever where I live right now.
  9. zab1001

    Ensign Rank

Just an idea, keep a few items (a set of bars, maybe shoulderboards)...you never know when someone close to you might decide to "accelerate their life". Pretty cool to give/receive heirloom rank insignia.

    Medical Question?

There's a difference between being med down for flight duty and med down for swimming (which I assume you mean). Docs have more options than you might think. Just get it taken care of. Waiting could create a more serious problem that could affect your time in Primary.
  11. zab1001

    Medical Question?

Yeah, we're talking about some IN flight training, ON flight status. Not someone waiting for initial approval. You're out of your element here. Generally, the Dental Hobby Shop will keep you clear until after the work is done, and that depends on what exactly they had to do. I've more than...
  12. zab1001

    Medical Question?

Again, are you talking about a commissioned officer in a flight program?
  13. zab1001

    Medical Question?

Are you even talking about someone in a flying billet on flying status?

Does GPA from transfer colleges count?

Thread's done. GD, you got an unsympathetic, but real response to a fairly obvious question. The F's will not help you. You know this, we know this, the selection board knows this. We're done. See ya in a month. edit: grammar

Individual Augmentee (IA) info & questions

Out of curiousity, how is this affecting you upgrading to AC? (understandable if you can't discuss it here)
  16. zab1001

    Funeral Uniform?

By "friend of a friend" I'm going to assume you're dating someone who will be attending the funeral. Fair enough. For future reference, you were "asked to attend" the service, not "invited". It's not a cocktail party. As far as civilian attire, go to Macys (or whatever big department store...

Individual Augmentee (IA) info & questions

Even I know what a sine wave is, but I still had to look up "ostensible"...I now have my 20 dollar word of the week. Thanks Brett.

Small community, the idea being to separate the wheat from the rest of us.

    Billet listings

Young JOs take note, the key is GRADUAL sun exposure. No one will notice if you have a "healthy glow", but don't show up on Friday morning with Oakley racoon eyes when you haven't been at work all week. Yes, I've seen it happen. Me: "The Skipper didn't look happy, what'd he have to say?"...

    Billet listings

"prance around", that's good, I like that. I'm playing "the game" once again, and same as last time, "Santa's List" is nowhere to be found.
  21. zab1001

    Billet listings

I asked about this a few years ago and was told, specifically "That info is no longer something we show JOs...", which I translated as "Fvck off LT". Even when it was available, the listing could be outdated, you had no idea if it was current or not.

    Online flight routing

No one said "print it out and go". It's one tool in your bag. Like your whiz wheel, like reviewing the route, like the GPS, like having the 2P verify the GPS waypoints, like the Nav having your back. re-track: like I said gator, any VP dude will be able to get you into the system (if you...

    Online flight routing

I actually had this argument with someone once. His contention was that he could do just as well with his high chart. I agreed, but stipulated that you can do the same thing in half the time (even if you're talking 2 minutes vs 5) and get a predicted fuel consumption log. Work smarter, not...

    Online flight routing

OPARS? Always gave me good routing (just check the dip clearances, I know that isn't an issue for you now, but deployed guys need to be sure). Ask a P-3 guy, that sh!t is standard. edit: free, widely available (for DOD), and you can put it on your home pc or laptop.

What, Is may the "land gear up month" and no one told me?

I looked at that pic and after saying (Joe Dirt voice) "daaaaaaang"...I actually got nostalgic for Dodge. Cocktail please.

Gotcha. Now back to "random musings on the Mexican armed forces".

    Mexico threatens lawsuits over Guard

That, and the rest of your post, may be one of the dumbest things I've ever read.
  31. zab1001

GUARD to the US-Mexico Border ???

No, I won't hate. Like I said, I spend a lot of time there and the work ethic in that city astounds me (that goes for everybody).
  32. zab1001

GUARD to the US-Mexico Border ???

Alright man, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that's what you meant to say in your original post. (I spend A LOT of time in Miami)
  33. zab1001

GUARD to the US-Mexico Border ???

Care to elaborate on that statement?

1/C Aviation Cruise to NAS Lemoore

Jeebus, as an O-2, we "pranked" our own Skipper with something on a much MUCH lower level than any of this, and a very few of us walked away without a severe black mark on our record (thank God for the "I'm just a LTJG shield"). My advice to any Mids is to keep your head down, shut the fvck...

    Military Flight Time

Friendly piece of advice...please find an instructor to show the proper way to execute the manuever and teach you the procedure. Don't try to wing it. It isn't worth the potential for disaster.

F-14 tail washes up in Ireland

With that line of logic, we'd better stop selling to everyone. Better end all the PEPs as well.
  38. zab1001

    Pull-ups and headaches

If it goes away, this is a classic example of what NOT to mention on any kind of flight physical.

    Our Air Force(s)?

Santiago is out of control. Unfortunately I live about an hour and a half from there. Luckily "that time of year" is upon us, when all the college exchange students arrive.

No, here you say "retardo". No, I'm not kidding.

    LTJG Shoulder Boards

I'd feel bad for you but you chose to hang out with that kid and let him get away with it. Live and learn.
  43. zab1001

    LTJG Shoulder Boards

There are set rules for Roulette. 1. All cards go into a hat. 2. Cards are drawn one by one from the hat, preferably by a non-participant, preferably female, preferably stacked. 3. As each card is drawn, that person is "safe". 4. By waiting for the final card, you increase the tension...

    P-3 Life

As much as I hate to say it, Aries aircraft go the same places we do and fly the same tracks. And they do it with even less possibility of a return fire than us.

    Personal GPS with Falcon View?

Again, new stuff is issued all the time, I'd wait to see what the squadron has on hand before you spend your own cash. It would suck to buy something fancy and then find out your Fleet squadron has something even better, and free. In the end, it's your call.
  49. zab1001

    P-3 Life

I'd say don't go P-3s and count on being able to meet up with the wife. For all you know, you could end up doing 2 desert deployments (you may be tasked to 7th Fleet and end up detted to 5th). You also may end up in 7th and have a Skipper who says "no way, no how". It's 6 fvcking months...
