Hell yeah got my flying orders today. Class 04-16.

Nope, no deal on the reporting and then leaving. You stay here in A-Pool and if you get a stash job it will be somewhere on base. ie flight management, rescue swimmers school, the pool, etc. Though there are now quite a few A-Pool guys that are getting royally screwed. Navy postgrad school...

    Now that's a callsign

Exactly, if you hate it...someone at your command will make sure to call to your next command so that they know you hate it, and it will stick.

Hell yeah got my flying orders today. Class 04-16.

He isnt the person that actually calls you. He is trying to work something out with Millington (I believe is the place that cuts the orders) where fewer people report in for the next few months to help eliminate the backlog. I would assume that you would get a call or something from there. Im...

Hell yeah got my flying orders today. Class 04-16.

Lol, get ready to sit on your hands some more. My friend reported in June a week after I did and he still hasnt done IFS or BOLTC yet. He keeps trying and they are just so backed up its rediculous. Things are supposed to be getting worse, which is why the Lt. is trying to have some people...

Hell yeah got my flying orders today. Class 04-16.

the 0416 means that you are scheduled to join the 16th class that starts in 2004. The general rule is that one class starts every week. So you can do the math on that one. Good luck. Right now API is really backed up, so you might be starting later.

Reporting to Pcola right b4 the holidays

Definately call Student Control and see what they say. And be prepared for your dates to change. The Lt. Is supposed to be calling out to have a lot of people come in a few months after what their orders currently read. A-Pool is up to about 300 people now, so he wants that to drop down.

    Now that's a callsign

There was a female F-15 pilot at Eglin with the callsign "Cans." Apparently the protective areas under the 2 exhausts are called cans and designed to protect against overrotation on takeoff and landing. Well, on her first landing at Eglin she overrotated and slammed them against the runway...

    Swimming

You dont have to float on your back for this, and in the mile swim you are not allowed to use the backstroke. Also the float is only 3 minutes long. There are remediation sessions for people that have trouble with it. It is actually easier to do the floating with the gear on, as the helmet...

    Swimming

You will do the mile swim on Wednesday of your third week of API. You do 4 days of swimming a week, plus one of cardio/running while in API. After that comes the dunkers and other survival type stuff. The first few WS classes they just have you practice the basics, and then do the WS 1-3...

    New type of Jet Engine

Sounds like the same principle the Germans used on the Buzz Bombs in WWII. The Pulse-Jet. Not a bad idea since it has no moving parts...not sure how close the new designs are to that though since you need pretty good throttle response.

    Wives at API.

BOQ=Bachelor Officers Quarters....ie a type of military apartment complex or hotel on base.

    Wives at API.

The Navy Lodge on base has provisions for your spouse living with you. I havent heard of anyone having their wife live with them in the BOQ.

Navy Federal vs. First Navy Bank?

Go with USAA, you cant beat their car insurance, free online banking, rebates on ATM fees, and loans. Also Bank of America sucks ass. I dropped them like a bad habit. Their customer service sucks ass, and they will screw you any way they can, like holding checks that you mailed in for deposit...

    NROTC various questions

Ok, first thing is that for the scholarship you should have some sort of extra curricular activities. The Navy looks for well-rounded people. Which means sports, clubs, or jobs. If you just want to be part of a NROTC Unit and dont want a scholarship then its not as big of a deal. A pilots...

    Any ideas

Things are pretty much taught by the instructors in the way you will need to know it for the tests, so studying early will probably just result in you studying too much info. Running isnt the biggest thing to worry about, but swimming is. Except for the first day when you do a PFA, you will be...

    API gouge

I just wanted to say thanks to Bryan for his gouge page. Other than the weather stuff, (Which was just changed 3 months ago) its all great. As for NavyGouge.com some of the stuff is out of date as far as API goes. The instructors love to talk about the gouge pages and navygouge.com is the...

    starting API???

I checked in during the first week of June and I classed up today. You have to have completed BOLTC, get your upchit, PRT and do IFS before you can class up. When I first checked in, people who requested Corpus classed up sooner because they needed more people. Right now it is equal with both...

    Best NROTC University?

I would definately recommend VMI. I had my option of the Academy, MIT, RPI, UC schools, etc. It depends on what you are looking for out of your school. For me, I wanted the most challenging school and none of the others impressed me, although the Academy has the name. Also VMI is 100% for...

Would appreciate help with a serious problem

Second hand smoke should not make you pop positive. We had a guy at our Unit pop a piss test. He claimed it was from second hand smoke, but the Lt. Talked to us afterwards and explained that the Navy actually has alot of leniency in what pops specifically so that second hand smoke doesnt make...
