What do you get when you graduate PLC?

You get to haul ass across the parade deck and try and beat the traffic out of that miserable place. Seriously, if you don't you are gonna be sitting there forever waiting to get out b/c there are a million people trying to get through one exit all at once.

Air Force purchasing their own handgun

I don't think the military will be jumping up and down to pick up a Glock pistol anytime soon - they have big hangups about external safety switches.

Monster Marine OCS thread: stupid questions answered here!

Yeah, now that I think about it, 10-12 canteens is about right - just 3 gallons seems so ridiculous when you put it like that. They are MUCH more accommodating towards filling canteens and making head calls at OCS than at Boot. Recruits pissing themselves is not uncommon at all - I doubt many...

Monster Marine OCS thread: stupid questions answered here!

3 gallons is quite a bit - that is ~~ 11 canteens. If you drink TOO much water, without enough potassium and sodium intake, you will get Hyponutrimia - which I got medevac'd for during SULE II. I was hyperventilating uncontrollably and cramping up nearly non-stop, and I had a lot of problems...

Monster Marine OCS thread: stupid questions answered here!

If that is who I am thinking of (Golf Co. 2nd Increment Summer 2006) he is a MECEP SSgt (Might be a GySgt now) who is going back this summer. Dunno if he was technically dead - but he was pretty jacked. -- Same Company had over 1/4 of it's candidates become casualties on the 9-mile hump/SULE II...

Old Days - [ohld deyz] -Compound word 1. A long time ago when things were a LOT harder: I heard that back in the old days, Lt. Presley O'Bannon actually won the Battle of Tripoli all by himself using a coconut, a sock, and his favorite hat - which he later repaired using the hair of his...

Flying for Navy, Marines or Air Force?

Getting out after 4-years isn't leaving the service "high and dry." Seems like most people who enter the service talking about "their career" get out after 4, and most guys I know who are making a career of it just joined for four and wound up staying. Either way, the military needs people to...

Can I still be an Officer (shoplifted in 1998)

Have you talked to an officer recruiter? Anything you hear from anyone on here is going to be a) Conjecture or Hearsay and b) Ineffectual - the only person that can get you into the Navy is an officer recruiter (of some kind).

Recommended boot socks and anything else to avoid blisters

Do you own a pair of boots? If so - try out different things until you find what works. E.G., I wear cotton socks underneath my black socks, which everyone says is a big no-no, but I never get blisters either. I tried the liner thing and it destroyed my feet. See what works for you, you have...

Recommended boot socks and anything else to avoid blisters

I bought the cheapest synthetic running sock at my local store. It was like $10-15 for 3 of them, made by ASICS. Brought 6 pairs to OCS, wore them underneath my black socks. I usually just wear cotton ankle socks underneath my black socks though.

While I am certainly all for refining your position as you gain knowledge/experience (hell, everyone does it by instinct alone), that isn't the issue at hand. Certainly, with the advantage of 20/20 hindsight we could say "Maybe attacking Iraq isn't the best idea" or "Maybe we should plan for...

    Ground MOS choices?

Why does everyone want to be recon? Recon is farking miserable, it's not that "fun" to be hot/cold, hungry, tired, wet, dirty for weeks on end. Seems like somehow 90% of people who have never gone to the field want to be recon without even knowing what it is like to be a basic line...

    Stress Fractures and Shin Splints

The biggest way to prevent shin splints or other leg injuries is to be in good shape before you get there. Cowards Give up on GIs

There is a difference between a war that is unpopular with Joe Sixpack on the street and a war that Congress has voted to lose (withdraw). Other than that though it is mindless politicking on both sides. I usually with Ralph Peters point of view, and some of his Books are pretty good. Zing!!
