Yep, my old man was there for that too. He actually started flying the A-37 with them; though he didn't stick around after they went to the predator. Can't say I blame him one bit.
Anyway, welcome to the site.
And the little exchange on Camp Barrett would go out of business.
I don't think they kept dip on the shelves for more than a couple hours. There was always a truck full of the stuff at the loading dock behind the store.
There is a T-45 where the guys ejected on take off, (From Acadiana IIRC) the jet went off the end of the runway, around the tacan, and found the only break in a deep drainage ditch to cross before it came to a rest. That airplane definitely wanted to live to fly another day.
I'm not sure if I still have it, but I'll see if I can't dig it up for you. I hope it isn't time critical, as I just PCS'd and still have an entire room full of unopened boxes.
There was something like that I remember from IFS. It was just a big triangle explaining VFR wx mins for each class of airspace- is that what you're looking for?
Chiefs are officer recruiters in the Navy. It is never too early to talk with an officer recruiter. You make an impression when you walk in the door. Look/smell clean and don't be a douche. You don't have to walk in the door knowing much, and you don't have to wear a suit and tie.
If you don't...
There is an awesome Brazilian steakhouse on the north side of town. Chama Gaucha is the name of it (I think). Howl at the Moon is another cool bar, it's just off the riverwalk. The place will be packed with a line out the door on the weekends after 10.
I took a couple of classes over at the AF spec ops schoolhouse at Hurlburt while waiting to class up that were actually kind of fun. Learning about stuff like insurgent warfare, the use of media in warfighting, and about what AF spec ops actually does was interesting. Plus it gave us a reason to...
And if you go one place and your buddies go another, well, you'll be around some new awesome buddies, and you'll have a good time.
If you don't come out of Primary with friends in every community in Naval Aviation you are doing something wrong.
Is the local gov in Oki still doing the free 5 day vacation for 2 days of protesting the Americans? I heard someone talking about that around here a while ago.
Whiting guys like Whiting. Corpus guys like Corpus. South Texas sucks, but so does Lower Alabama, and yet both places have some pretty cool stuff about them too.
You won't be there long, you really won't get a choice in where you go, and both places will be what you make of it.
And by different versions you mean exactly the same except for the addition of the USMC Seal on the first slide next to the DON one.
This was starting to go away at VT-21 just before I left. I hope it continues that way, but I am not planning on it.
Dude- it's MOUT- Be creative, have fun and don't get wrapped around the axle wrt the instructors liberal use of the "God Gun".
Seriously though, MOUT was some of the most fun my buddies and I had at TBS.
30% attrition rate? 80 is still passing correct?
Primary/Intermediate/Advanced only get progressively harder. You'll look back and realize that API isn't that hard as long as you put in the work that is required.
The word that is spreading over at the baseops.com forums is that he was hit by a boat(!).

I know some guys who asked during the jet draft that happened about 1.5 years ago. They were given some counseling on the finer points of shutting the hell up, growing where they were planted and taking their selection like a man, while standing at attention.
You should find both the NAMI requirements and the waiver guide for SNAs, and know the rules verbatim wrt ADHD and the meds you took. You need to be ready to show in writing where you are either A) good to go, B) eligible for a waiver or C) (the not good one) NPQ.
Here is the thing, people...
That was the general consensus. The Col did say that we aren't the "demographic" for UAVs- but that for a guy at TBS who is learning that they don't really want the infantry job, but also don't want supply or log it could be a pretty good deal.
MEPS physicals and NAMI style flight physicals are very different animals. One is gauging how well you meet the basic requirements for military entrance, the other for entrance into flight school. I would definitely plan on this being an issue again, that way you'll be ready for it.
The Col at MATSG-22 owns that pipeline. He told us during a checkout brief that those UAV guys would get a little bit of stick type with the AF in Pueblo, Co, then go through the UAV courses at Randolph AFB and at Ft Huachucha. That is correct that it is an enlisted guy who "flies" the airplane...
There is a sim instructor in Corpus running a similar racket, only he charges $100. I tried to get my Kingsville buddies to just stop by the SA FSDO on the way to Austin- they didn't believe me that the FSDO doesn't charge.
