    NROTC Essay, Final Try (Hopefully)

That would be great if he was trying to get into composition/AP Gov grad school. However, many of the officers trying to help him here have (obviously) gotten into a commissioning source and have more experience with the mindset/workings of the fleet (more than a "SNA waiting to start at PNS")...

    Psycho Russian Pilots

Most military planes with ejection seats (that I know of, anyway) have some type of selector to control if both seats eject on either crew handle pull or if they only eject their own seat. I think there are pictures floating around of a F-14 after a SWO got an orientation ride and accidentally...

    Puma Air West

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-lax-colony20-2009jul20,0,4549617.story The airline industry seems to be following MBs lead at LAX with a $60/month trailer farm. Hopefully it's better for crew rest than the overworked crews in Colgan Air type situations.

    Stadium flyover... anybody?

Nice low flyby here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1199341/Now-thats-I-fly-past-US-Navy-F18-streaks-past-apartment-block.html (good picture but copyrighted). Apparently they can go lower as long as the FAA waives it.

Agreed that is toolish, but you'll probably appreciate a lack of fighters and SAMs when flying the helos around.

    Flight Attendant Dress Size Controversy

For the airline pilot types, is there an actual upper limit on FAs? It would seem there would be some kind of anthro/physical test to make sure they can lift an injured passenger/not jam the exit when evacuating.

First spin = Airsick. What's next?

Never got sick in flight school and superstitiously carry a gallon ziploc bag in my flightsuit - works good for throwing paperwork/etc inside to make a dash to the car during a surprise thunderstorm as well. To help with the dental backup (for some reason they have all the flight status people going to Corry even though they only have a few dental personnel) try asking them to schedule an appointment at the NATTC clinic for you instead - waited 4 days instead of 1.5 months for a filling.

40 Reasons guns should be banned

To protect my self from someone with a knife, baseball bat, zip-gun, chain, crowbar, throwing star, straight razor, broken bottle, or taser. And to protect myself from other people with guns since they most likely don't care if their guns are illegal (they obviously don't have a problem with...

Definitely would have helped in this case; we should all fix the situation by sending out squadron wide emails reminding people of the Navy regs against driving 600+ miles on a weekday to slaughter endangered birds.

    Government Housing NAS Whiting?

Don't know about NSE specifically but a lot of AF bases have the same policy for pilot/nav students to keep the base numbers looking good. They don't want to have Congress asking why they spent $X mil on new BOQ construction only to have nobody living there. Once occupancy goes over 90-95% most...

    Anyone in PHX, AZ?

They came in on the T-39s (no-cost orders as observers). There is a 7-10 month wait right now for AF guys PCSing to the RTU (RAG) right now; they are required to do a certain number of observer hops each week anyway to slow the decay of knowledges.
