NPQ from SNA - What to do now?

I really hate when that kind of crap happens. Two of my best friends from college got npq'd in the past month. One (Marine sna) had a hidden eye issue that was found in the nami whammy and the other (Navy snfo) had a ear issue after the pressure chamber during API. The Navy guy switched to...

Can anyone clarify IP time for me

Call your local FSDO and they can clarify it for you. They probably wont know what you are talking about but can give you the exact definition (which then can be legally twisted to make it work for you:)). I looked through the FAR's and couldn't find a clear cut answer but my educated CFI...

    Strange eBay Find

I have my dad's A-4 tailhook with me. It's painted the same way. He said all you needed was a case of beer and a tailhook that was trapped out to get your hands on one. This was in the mid 80s at Barbers Point. I was able to have it as long as I agreed to keep it chained up at parties...

    Stu. Pilot Cert. Question...

Go to this website, click on the United States, and then click on a state to find glider operations. It looks like you are going to jaxs and I know there is a descent operation in the area. http://www.ssa.org/sport/wheretofly.asp

    Stu. Pilot Cert. Question...

Get your wings, get your commerical ticket, and then get your commerical glider add on. Its SO easy and really cheap. All you need is a couple flights to solo, 20 solo flights (10 for private add on), and then checkride. Its better then doing the full commerical glider (100 flights needed)...

    Aerobatics in P-cola

Except for the soaring club there, there isnt any other operations. The airport owner has driven them all away. The bellanca scout (which looks like a citabria) is used to tow the gliders. I towed there when I was going through api and primary. Not the best plane to go inverted in but it can...

    Tailhook?

You will go through another selection after phase one based on grades and needs of the Navy. If you go e2c2, you will stay and go to the boat and then to corpus. If you select jets, you will do the entire phase 2 syllabus (acm, weps, etc.) with cq at the end (normally).

    Private Flying

I flew gliders and towed them in a single engine tailwheel while in api and primary. API/NASC never asked me about orm'ing those two activities, but primary did. I just filled out a sheet of paper saying Im a good pilot and that was it. They only have issues with people trying new stuff...

Anthropometric issues (are you too big or even too small or...)

This was a good change for me. Everytime I jump in the t-45 i swear it looks like my knee caps will stay in the plane if i pull that little black and yellow handle.

    Conduct of RI flights

I did all my 42xx's on the road so the power was set at 1015ftlbs (300lbs/hr) from t/o to the landing pattern.
  15. M

Anthropometric issues (are you too big or even too small or...)

you were probably getting to this, but if someone missed it, the t-45 has tighter restrictions than the hornet.

    FAM question.

Your 13th fam is your checkride so 'fam 14' is your solo. I cant remember the exact number but you have around 3-4 fam's without your onwing. Check the mpts and it will clarify.

    next stop.......MERIDIAN!

Every two weeks one of the sqd. selects between 5-8 studs. Vt-7 was this week so it will be back to vt-9 in two weeks. Navy guys don't wait long while Marines wait around a month.

    flight school timelines

If i get through Meridian on schedule, I should be an Ensign with wings for a month or two. Look at my profile to see the timelines for each phase. My down time between phases were kept to a minimum too.

Thanks A4s. Except for the lack of bars, women (good looking), and the layers upon layers of pollen, I don't mind Meridian at all. If you are a fan of the outdoors, its a great place to live. I selected on March 1st, checked in on the 19th, went to lemoore on the 20th (centrifuge sucked...

    San Antonio this weekend...

I'm not sure how it is past primary, but we could only fly to places with 'contract fuel'. This pretty much means that the government has a contract with the local fbo. The website below tells you what airports have those contracts. Just click on the links in the middle of the screen to get...

    Question About Getting Flying Time

I had 800 hours and CFII going through primary. Yes, my grades were a little better than others, but not by much. I was pretty much on an even playing field through Fam's because I had to re-learn everything 'the navy way.' Having previous instrument time helped out a lot in RI's, but it...

    Meridian living?

I'm currently in the wonderful process of finding a place to stay in Meridian. Is it cheaper/smarter to rent a house or an apartment? It was defiantly smarter to rent a house here in Milton. Any recommendations on good and bad apartments? Due to the trip out to Lemoore and classing up on the...

    anthro question

I would like kingsville over meridian due to location and friends. Although I skipped a couple RI's and BI's, I'm still on an average-completion-pace-schedule(?) due to an extra long time in forms (xmas, wx, etc). From what I have seen and heard, most people take about 6 weeks to get through...

We had a guy just select who could only go E-6's or P-3's (very tall). Apparently E-6's had more available slots so that is where he went.

The worst is when a piper cub and s2b are flying in formation. The pitts is hanging on the prop while the cub is diving at max a/s. It's a funny site to see.

    Worth the Trip?

I got commissioned through rotc and got the 10 days of house hunting leave. There wasn't much to do anyways as a stashed ensign.

    152 vs Warrior?

I agree with your decision. In my opinion, unless you plan on only flying x-countries, a Cessna is a better pick. NOTHING can beat how cheaply and easily a Cessna 150/152 can be flown and maintained.
