Can't disagree with this. As someone from age 22 to nearly 49 that has worked in one form or another for the government I like to believe that whether it was banging off the front end of the boat at night to go in harms way or delivering a next generation SIGINT system I have given more to them...

Feinstein to introduce AWB in January

Talked to a buddy today. His gun shop in Jax had 1200 evil black rifles on Monday in stock. Today he checked and they have 3. They hit him up for any 5.56 he wanted to loan him since they were sold out and they would pay him back.

Very happy they are concentrating on window dressing, knee jerk legislation instead of anything important like a fucking budget. *sigh* we're legislated by people with the attention span of squirrels.

Australia requests authority to purchase 24 more Super Hornets

Let me clarify for Fog. There has never been a successful transition of a fixed wing aircraft to sea service from a shore based service. Several the other way, F-4, A-7 and A-1 all come to mind. No, the YF-17 bears too little resemblance to the F/A-18 to count.

Good article. The episode in From Earth to the Moon miniseries called Galileo Was Right is my favorite and Harrison (well, an actor playing him!) is a key figure. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_the_Earth_to_the_Moon_(TV_miniseries)

Yep VMAQ-2 flew them from 66 to when they got Prowlers and they did deploy on Sara and FID to support the CVW - Some great history here http://cv41.org/EA6A.html The Navy never used the EA-6A operationally but the CVW-20/30 Reserve Airwings flew them until 91 when they transitioned to Prowlers...

Nothing for EA. The Whales in the fleet at that time were all VQ assets and if you needed Prowlers they were deployed from Whidbey. The newest squadrons back from cruise were on the bubble to redeploy. It didn't happen much but during Eldorado Canyon Coral Sea had no Prowlers and VAQ-135 did a...

    The Perpetual Prowler Tribute

Yep - but even in 89 when I joined the fleet most squadrons had given it up. Likely was a useful marking back in the day when Prowlers were in sort supply and not every airwing had their own and the gear setting mix up could happen with an unusual player in the pattern.

You think the cockpit was bad, the crew compartment in the belly for the SIGINTERS was amazingly small. I toured one at NPA in 87 and it was very clear that OJN was not going to be on my dreamsheet. They winged the last Whale NFO's in fall of 88 and I had a friend who went to VAQ-34 with them.
