Agree on the food for sure! Now that you mention food, Rockfish had some pretty good food as well. As for Flyers beer... There isn't much else to choose from if you want to stay on the island, unless you want to go fist pumping at Element. :)

I think you've identified the problem. I lived in OH for many years, but I never will again. That place is one big social and cultural dead zone.

Am I the only one who thinks the Younger is a better beer than the elder? Much more balanced malt flavors and a nice sweetness that really fills out the flavor...

Haven't tried Green Flash yet, but it's on the list.

Russian River is tapping pliny the younger on Feb 1st and can't wait to try it. If you're ever in the San Diego area, Green Flash is definitely worth a visit. They have quite a variety on tap with some interesting caterers that change every night.

I've been exploring the Rogue brewery microbrews...haven't found one yet I don't like

Dead Guy might be my new favorite go to.
Double chocolate stout- should be called drinkable sexual chocolate, instead.
25th anniversary vanilla - om nom nom.

My happy place in Jax is now Beer30, saving me the drive all the way to Total Wine. I buy something new every time I go in there. Currently drinking Southern Tier's Iniquity Black Ale. Pretty tasty, though if you can get your hands on their Creme Brulee Stout, it's basically alcoholic dessert.

Oh keep trying, you'll start finding their stinkers. They make some solid beers, but in a lot of cases jump the shark trying to be clever. Irksome, considering the price for their bombers.

Rogue's stuff is a decent intro/starter kit for craft brews. I don't know if Cigar City (Tampa) has distro into Pensacola, but if so, try their stuff. Their variations are along the sames lines as Rogue, but (IMO) executed much better. Their Jai Alai IPA (available in cans) excellent beer, dangerously so.

When faced with that wall of beer with weird names and brands and descriptions, a smart phone and beeradvocate.com is a great resource to have handy.

I've seen Jai Alai, or at least I recognize the name, but I'm not a huge IPA guy. I have to really think citrus or grapefruit to drink them, and even then, its a one and I'm done type deal.

I've been pounding through all the Abita I can find since I moved out here, as it was my old standby in flight school. Andygator is some potent shite.
