    Hi everyone!
I've been reading through the forums but haven't found anything that relates to what I am wondering. I got married, changed my name, then got divorced and changed my name back to my maiden name. Some of my awards have my married name on them. Is the difference in last name going to be an issue?

No, I actually changed my name in 2013. Most of my awards were tied to my previous name. The awards are tied to your SSN, no worries!

Keep working on finishing your degree, on average 70% of the spots go to those going nuke so you probably have a better chance applying to OCS, are close to finishing your degree?

I am definitely continuing to work on my degree. I have my first full year done, and am taking my Calculus classes this summer, and Physics classes this fall. I definitely have a better chance at OCS just based on percentages accepted, but I have no chance of getting picked up for STA-21 if I don't apply.

Calc and physics will help your application, most of the STA-21 drops we rec'd in my department were due to failing those courses.

    Hello All,

This will be my third application for Pilot and CORE, and my final time applying due to my expected graduation date in May 2018. I've browsed this forum for a few years but never got involved. Good luck to all of you this year!

Had the time to read and review, I'm in the process of re-writing and getting everything together for my boards. I'm stumped over the formatting of the Interview Verification Form and what an age waiver request letter looks like.

@HDND, I wanted to get a look at your package, but the link to your dropbox doesn't appear to be working on my end.. Could be my computer though.

I wonder if they will update to a FY18 Fleet Brief on the STA-21 website. I'd be nice if they include the statistics like they did in previous years.

I agree! Of course becoming an officer is number one and designator is 2nd, however, my main concern is how competitive I'd look in that option. Even though I'm not an AG, I felt I was competitive for Oceanography because the degree I'm working towards is Physical Oceanography and I have many volunteer hours dedicated towards oceanography related activities. I'm still very motivated but I'd be applying for IP with absolutely no prior connection to the community, so I'm wondering how that is going to look. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong and being negative by thinking what chance would I have in that situation. I've swallowed the pill, just need to figure out what I can do to remain competitive. Taking Calc soon!

I recognize and respect your concern. Changing your emphasis will be tough. I wrote my entire package to be geared around becoming a CEC officer. The board chose me to be URL, knowing good and well that I did NOT want to be one.

Remember that this is a graded and scored package. You could truly get selected for any designator given the right amount of points. Don't count yourself out based on your degree and volunteer work. Those will play little into your final score.

You may consider which designator would be the easiest to lateral transfer out, if possible.
