    Random Griz Aviation Musings

There was almost zero viz on Monday - in Reno and at Truckee. Smoke from the CA fires was very heavy. We had some diversions from Truckee right before the crash - and of course a few afterward. That aircraft was a frequent RNO visitor - went to the other FBO up the taxiway.

    Quarantine Activities

My job is considered "essential" so no work from home for me. Accepted a large promotion at work the beginning of March which entailed a move from CLE to Reno. Spent the week before last driving a moving truck across the country - now settling into the new job and unpacking!

IBM Selectric II - what a beauty... Used to print fitreps out on a daisy wheel printer. That was fun - line up the OCR wheel, print the front, pull and reverse the carbons, swap to Times New Roman wheel, print the back. Twenty mins later skipper comes up with "a little change...":eek:

    USN Junk in NATOPS

Happened on the TR when I was with VFA-15. If I remember right (this was 89-90) the mishap was almost a class a because of all the damage to the antennas on the tails. Kind of hard to imagine though - a Hornet needing to dump gas before recovery... :D

    New Working Uniforms

Sounds like the issue is over zealous persecution of enlisted folks for wearing a "working uniform" out in town vs. what that "working uniform" looks like.
