Scratch one off the retiree bucket list:

Intentionally bumping into someone's cart when they're not following the arrows on the floor of the grocery store

Since we’re getting on about our various stages of alcoholism...View attachment 25379
Awesome. Like the minimalism and natural wood. My bar is 30 years old. Only thing that survived a remodel by Mrs Wink. I drew the line at the bar. Her designer friend wanted to rip it out and replace with a banquette and some floating glass shelves. Room already has seating for 8+. Fridge, icemaker, microwave, coffee maker, sink. Only thing missing is a tap. I just don't drink that much beer even on lockdown. Sword in the antlers is an homage to COL Roosevelt. He returned from Cuba and placed his sword in the antlers of a Moose mount. There they remain. 25393

Reminds me of a family story about my grandparents renovating their vacation home in the 80s or 90s. Apparently they somehow ended up roped in with a designer my grandmother started referring to as “The Barracuda.” You shall conform to my vision, buy shit from my expensive suppliers, etc. etc.

Wasn’t until years later as a grownup, visiting Mom and Dad, a couple drinks in, that it came out “yeah, we’re fairly certain that that whole experience was a big factor behind the stroke she had . . .”

Anybody willing to share pics of mancave/I-love-me rooms? Looking for some inspiration to start something like that.

First gin and tonic of the spring/summer. I use key lime juice instead of lime slices. Best discoveries I've made on that front have been Q tonic water and Voyager gin. Q isn't as cloyingly sweet as Seagrams, Canada Dry, etc. It uses agave and not corn syrup as I recall. It also comes in little 5-ounce bottles or cans so you can use one to a drink. Voyager is a distillery up near Woodinville, WA, and it's the best gin I've yet come across. You can sip the stuff neat, if you want; it's that smooth. Still has an herbal bite like good gin, but it doesn't need a mixer to avoid tasting either medicinal or like you're sucking on a juniper bush. Relatively reasonably priced for a craft spirit, to boot.

Damn, I love this page of the thread. Looking forward to a wet bar in my next house...
As you can tell from my glorious 1960s countertop, I bought a bit of a fixer when I started working in Seattle, thanks to the batshit insane real estate market. I know exactly where I want my wet bar to eventually go. But ye gads, the money I've had to sink into other shit recently . . .
