Ya it might be good to plan for OCS starting in the Fall or even Winter (possibly even later). I'm working on some contingency things now so yall civs out there might want to do the same if you're not already in that process

This whole winter or fall at OCS sounds horrible. I was hoping to do summer... I’m from Mississippi, my body will not be ok with the cold. Any suggestions?

I was told that if you're a civ applicant that was selected, you can request to move your OCS date back and they will generally approve it a long as its not too far back. So you might be able to choose some warmer months if you don't mind waiting that long

Theres 87 spots left from May- September. So just hope for the best. No one knows how many SWO spots are actually available, so just hold out hope. So far no one thats reported an OCS date has one for 2021, so it looks like there are still available spots. The 87 was as of yesterday. So Im not sure now

Idk about you guys but having to wake up before dawn and stand in formation in the cold with windchills and risk cold like symptoms is not worth any amount of running for me. I’d rather wait until FY21 when it gets warm over going at the end of this year

The track is literally right off the water too. If the wind is coming from the west, there is nothing to block the track. If it's coming from the north, it has to go through a couple buildings.

You may not have that option. You can request dates but if the navy needs you they will send you.

I’m from northern MN so I’m no stranger to sub zero temperatures ?
