Process to pull officer package

Hi all. In short, due to some life circumstances I need to pull my package from consideration for Navy officer selection. As a former enlisted service member this is not a decision I am taking lightly.

Does anyone know if there is an official process to pull my package from consideration before the selection board? My recruiter is not responsive and I'm trying to find an objective solution to this. I've tried looking up Navy directives to no avail. Additionally, I know that individuals who seek to go the enlisted route can literally not show up to their ship out with no repercussions. I obviously don't want to do that - becoming an officer is a completely different beast.

I want to ensure that the process to pull my package is done right so that those highly qualified and motivated people who can become officers don't compete against my package.

Thanks!

Hi Brett,

Not sure which part you are asking about or if it just an overall question. But to clarify:
  1. Due to certain, private, life circumstances I want to pull my package.
  2. I wrote my post because I want to do this the correct way and my recruiter is non-responsive/I haven't found a clear process to adhere to.
  3. I would like to remove my package, in part, because this also removes one more item from the selection boards to consider (saving them whatever time they would otherwise use) and also to be considerate to the other applicants.
To reiterate, my question is if anyone knows of an official process to pull my package from consideration before the selection board because I would like to adhere to that.

are you planning on trying again to get commissioned? If not then whatever, if yes then you better be able to explain what is going on in a way that makes them believe it is in the best interest of both parties.

also, how far along is the application? at board? or just in review at NRD level.

Hi NavyOffRec - I will, unfortunately, not seek to be commissioned again. My package should be at the March IWC board.

Send an email to your OR requesting to withdraw your package. If your OR is ghosting or being unresponsive, follow up with a phone call/texts until they respond. You can also reach out to the Officer Processor who you've likely worked with as well.

Hi Recruiting Guru - Will continue doing that. Seems like there is no "official" process or documentation that needs to be completed to pull my package. Thank you.

Just like any job application, a simple email is all that's needed. You're way oversweating this...
