Anyone know where the board results will be posted/if they're public record?
.I received a call today and I was 1 of 6 selected for 1825.
My background is complicated and a unicorn. Long time DoD civilian with some once in a lifetime opportunities that are the only reason I was competitive. I’m exceptionally excited.
Yes.
No way in hell I would join the Army as anything less than an 18X candidate. You think the Navy is backwards in some ways...
My comment is that I would only join the Army as an 18X because I've worked with regular Army and SF and I much prefer SF folks over conventional Army folks.Off-topic question, but in that case, are you saying Army is "harder" to get into than Navy or Air Force on the basis that you personally would only consider Special Forces? It's not fair to compare a small intense group within the Army to the entire Air Force and Navy.
Hey all, I'm a long time lurker and first time poster. Just wanted to thank everyone for their help with providing general information on the DCO process for the Navy Reserve. This website has been a great resource for applicants like me and I appreciate the information. I recently applied to the Sept 2019 board for 1835, and just found out that I was selected. I'll post my background below. I hope to post on here more in the future since I'll actually have some background and knowledge to share on the process.
Background:
29 M
Degrees- B.A. from VMI (International Studies and Political Science), M.S. from University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) (Intelligence Management), Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy (focus in National Security Policy) from Liberty University (currently attending)
Experience- 5.5 years as a consultant working for a Defense Contractor. Experience supporting various government, national security, and military clients.
No prior military experience.
Note: I submitted a package once before this board (back in March 2019) and wasn't selected.
Funny enough, it's the leg tuck that most people are failing, particularly females. Sad thing is, administrative roles only need to get 1, combat support need 3, and combat roles need 5Off-topic question, but in that case, are you saying Army is "harder" to get into than Navy or Air Force on the basis that you personally would only consider Special Forces? If you want to get into the Army, it's not tough, on top of which it helps a lot they catastrophically missed their recruitment quotas for FY19. Their new fitness test isn't helping matters, either. If someone wants to go Army and they can do a light deadlift, there's a spot ready and waiting for them.
If we had our PFA monitored and quality control'd like the Army's, people would be failing left and right. After this last PFA a couple of weeks ago, I am left in disbelief.Funny enough, it's the leg tuck that most people are failing, particularly females. Connecticut offers free tuition for veterans so was seriously considering it.IP (1825) might be a little more in your wheelhouse as a Comp Sci guy, but 1815 could use your talents as well. I also highly recommend pursuing a graduate program.
I had 6 years active as an Aegis FC, 3 years Reserve as an FC, and was finishing my MSEE when I got picked up for 1815. YMMV
