DCOIC Gouge for those about to commission as a DCO

Reservist

Intelligence Officer
I can see how it’d be that way if you signed an enlistment contract in exchange for $X0,000 cash bonus, then 6 mo. later became an ENS. But presumably those details are transparent to the IWC DCO Board, and they take it into account (quickly) when making selection decisions.

You are right about the bonus part - there is also final scrub when the release is granted. Navy wants the return on it's investment for A Schools, C Schools, clearance process and the like.

Even if no bonus was given, if the enlisted sailor has never mobilized -a mob might be ordered before the release for the commission is allowed.

An ugly truth I learned right from regional command at the third signature is - if you are enlisted and selected and have not mobbed - mob might be in your future before your are released to pin. Fortunately - I have mobbed in the past and the last tier signed.

Once you swear in with your recruiter and pin on ENS 18X5, you become ineligible for mob due to your MAS code.
Mostly true. However...

Your ability to MOB (MAS code), from the Region perspective is tied to your billet (plus med/dental etc). While submitting a TRUIC change I accidentally applied for a hard billet (not IAP). Someone was asleep at the wheel and approved it. I was the only ENS on the MOB short list for a long time.

Moral of the story is: Talk to your CO and N1 before pushing buttons and pulling levers in JOApply.

Paging all 18X5's

If you commissioned in the past 12 months and haven't started your quals, pm me. There's a program to get you some supplementary training (live, from your sofa) prior to getting to your operational command. It can really help reduce the pressure of trying to get qualified on time.
Especially helps in getting acess to info from low density designators (METOC), and Space AQD.

The 3500 training forms are officially tracked as well.

If there's enough interest, I may spin off a separate thread.

P.S. IWIREP is the name of the program @fieldrat referenced.

Active duty 18X0 are also invited to participate and qual.

And, any 18X5 officers LT or above with GC0 pin are invited to be instructors. This could be a way for SELRES or IRR officers to get points toward retirement from the comfort of their own home. There’s an O-6 program manager who can provide additional info. He dials into almost every IWIREP, too.

Dont forget to mention the IWO PQS Surge (bootcamp). I was able to get 75% of the signatures for my IWO PQS.

It can be a joint thing.

I don't speak Intel, so I'll leave that part to you.
Well, IP had only 9 threads in their forum, and METOC/OCEANO, CWE (1840), and Space Cadre had no home, so I thought why not just combine us all into one big family?

Congrats on your qual dude! Is that new or am I just slow to congratulate you?

New as of March. Long road, but it's over. Now I'm working towards Battle Watch Captain qual.

How does 3500 turn into signatures?
There is a surge in the North in June.
Depends on you command. Could have a SME counter-sign those line items and put a note in the front of your books. They could 'quiz' you as a quality check (my case) before signing, or they could reject it. Either way, the knowledge is yours and will speed up getting through the boards.
