Word in Meridian is that they're flying again, but no advancing Xs.
My LCDR is heading down to Kingsville as an IP and the word he got is they are limited to a 5,000ft ceiling, a speed restriction, and some manuever restrictions for the IPs, but at least they are still flying in some capacity.

You are both correct, there have been very limited IP currency flights going almost the entire time. Just enough to keep the instructors from going outside of NATOPS minimums, IIRC. SNAs are not flying yet. I've heard anything from July to October for that.

I might have to call a friend of mine down in K-ville to get the scoop- few outside of CNATRA seem to know much about the "get-well" plan. Rumors continue to fly, as always.

He was fired. And rejected for the follow on assignment previously announced. He's toast.

There's an interesting story going around that the Meridian Commodore who was concerned he was going to be fired by Admiral Bull so he's the one who went to the media.

True or not, I doubt we'll ever know considering how quick and quiet Bull's "replacing" occurred.

It would seem due to timing that the CoC was normal, however since there's no news articles celebrating this CoC, and it appears to have just "happened" that it wasn't exactly a normal change of command under good circumstances. Grab your popcorn, pop in the DVD of "carrier" and reminisce with said admiral as an O-5 XO...

When VADM Shoemaker and RADM Bynum came and spoke yesterday, they mentioned that the CoC was due to needing a more senior CNATRA and someone with a jet background. VADM Shoemaker also said that since RADM Bynum was about to deploy, he had extensive and recent experience with TACAIR fleet needs and dealing with PE issues. I got the feeling that there was more than what he was saying, but I'm just a dumb Ensign and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

I also found this article from a week ago, stating that RADM Bull was "directed to report to Washington, DC.... to lead a team to solve problems with Navy and Marine Corps fighter jets."

As for the T-45, VADM Shoemaker said they are working on a number of possible solutions, and are hoping to have 25 aircraft ready to go by the end of July, and 80 by October. Re-start of production is targeted for October, and then they can begin to work on what he said was a ~6 month backup in the pipeline.

So it sounds like you still have a couple of months left on that bartending gig in Austin. Fuck yeah!
