DCO Supply Chances and Selections

As far as?

Didn't they go to a once a year board?

Also, if they do have a board, expect VERY FEW to be selected. We are WAY overmanned and billets are impossible.

Ask me how I know

Bullets don't fly without Supply
Ragin, Excuse my ignorance (or lack of knowledge) but if there are no billets will most newly minted o1's just stay an o1 until their commission is over? If there are none/or very limited billets, what does that say about ones future for advancement through the ranks?

No, advancement isn't based on billet placement. You will still be attached to a unit, just not "hard billeted". So you'll still advance in rank, and do ATs, it's just you might not get a good experience and will get last pick for AT and training opportunities.

Kinda seem like they are the fat kid at the school baseball game, "well I guess we will take fat Bobby"

Pretty much.

I will be without an official billet until mid 2017 at the soonest. No big deal. I've already worked myself into some good training and other opportunities.

Yikes. Hang in there, bud. Are any other non-URL Reserve communities besides Supply in this situation?

Any word on the 2016 supply boards, specifically, August?
There will be ONE board in fiscal year 2016 in July 2016. Expected selects are 20 total. That's the same as earlier this year. Why? As stated previously, we're very overmanned due to many decommissioned units and high selections in the early years of the Afghan and Iraq wars when most of us deployed.

Chop07,

Thanks for the info. I was interested in applying for Supply in the New York/New England Area. Am I correct in my understanding that packets need to be submitted by Feb '16 for consideration during the July '16 board?

My other question is regarding recruiting stations and NOSC's. I have an option to either reach out to NE/New London/Newport recruiting officer or, NY/Bronx/Farmingdale (Long Island). Does it matter either way? I live in Eastern CT but spend a lot of time on projects in NYC and Eastern Long Island. Any one of those location works well for me.

Hello all, this will be my first post since joining and I was hoping to get a bit of feedback from you fine people. I'm currently a senior getting ready to graduate in the next year and am interested in talking to a recruiter. My degree will be a BA in Business Administration, by the time I graduate my GPA will be roughly 3.25 and overall 2.8 (I unfortunately wasn't focused when I first started as I am now). The school I go to requires community service, so LOR's from the staff where I volunteer won't be hard to come by. I currently work as a junior loan officer at a military member founded credit union, the majority of management and executives are reserve and retired officers and I can also get LORs from here. My question is, would the fact that I am prior service increase my chances of being selected, and if so does that help offset my GPA? Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

I will cut to the chase. You don't have a graduate degree or even working towards one and you have a very low GPA. The board will select 20 this year from a field of, I'm guessing, around 200. I would say you have pretty much no chance of selection. I would recommend getting your MBA or another Supply-centric graduate degree, lead others to build your resume, and work in a field that relates to the Supply Corps. Those are keys to success and selection.

Consider apply on for NFO (for now) or SWO (when they open in October).

Thank you for the prompt feedback gentlemen, I was considering SWO but being that my degree is in Business Administration I figured Supply would better suit my background. I've also considered enlisting in the reserves and cross rating to supply to gain more experience and enhance my service record. Would this help me at all, or would I best be served working towards an MBA?

I would recommend getting the MBA at the very least. Enlisting will keep your clock going to so if you can do it I would consider that as well. For some perspective my stats last year were.

Bachelor's in IT 4.0 GPA
MBA 3.7 GPA
7 years as a contracting officer for the Air Force
APDP Level III certified in contracting
APDP Level I certified in Program Management
1 year of supervisory experience (in Government contracting)
Prior service

I did not get in.
