Just got picked up for both SNA and NFO. Thanks airwarriors!

I am creating this thread to give thanks to you all who have helped me and provide any info to potential OCS candidates.

Info about my package:
3.1 GPA from University of Florida
63 OAR 7/8/7 Pilot/NFO aptitude
4.1 average eval
Currently a CTR2 serving aboard CG-56 USS San Jacinto

My package had a few blemishes which I thought possibly derail my getting selected but they did not.
1. I started my enlisted career by dropping out of BUD/s
2. I then spent 8 months on limited duty due to injury from BUD/s
3. I am currently 28 which is over the age limit for SNA (got an age waiver, but they said it still was less than desirable).

If you are trying to push an OCS or STA 21 application my biggest piece of advice would be to find an enlisted to officer coordinator at your command. They usually are a mustang who has done one of these two programs. Mine was an awesome LT who was my biggest champion. Also get a ASTB-E prep guide and combine it with the great gouges here on this website and STUDY STUDY STUDY. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

You had good ASTB scores and that is key for aviation programs.

Don't sell yourself short, the majority of people don't pass BUDS, being one of the 9 out of 10 that don't make it is different than being the 1 out of 10 that don't make it.
age waivers are common as long as you can commission by the max waiver age of 29 for SNA and 31 for SNFO.

It sounds as if you were lucky to find such a good coordinator, many have found their coordinator to have little knowledge about OCS programs.

okay...Hijacking your post..sorry..I just turned 28 and I am submitting a STA-21 package this year. This is my first package and the first from my command in almost a decade. My career counselor is not really familiar with the process and I reached out to others, but they directed me right back to him. I understand it's his job to know but it is also my career and time is ticking. I am young 28 but idk if the Navy will see that in my package.... I know the most important things to do right now are take my SAT and ASTB, but who set's up the boards? Does the college I apply to have anything to do with improving my chances for selection? Would flight lessons help?I would really like to be in the sky..... Any help will be much appreciated..

are you working toward finishing your degree now? if not your should be as STA-21 is very competitive.

28 really isn't young in terms of officer programs, with waiver the commissioned by age limit is 29 for Pilot, 31 for SWO/NFO/Supply

I understand I will be submitting an age waiver for NFO. I just recently obtained my Associates and I have 72 units. I could finish a Bachelors degree well before the 31 cut off age.

So if you get picked up SNA and NFO, at which point do you either choose whether you will do SNA or NFO, or at which point are you just given whatever the needs of the navy are at the time since you had applied for both and selected both?

Whatever is your highest choice is what you'll be processed for.

Go Gators! 11 year MM1 with two semesters away from graduating from UF as well. I'd like to use you as a mentor of sorts before you leave for OCS. Let me know if this idea is feasible.
